Thracia 776 English Translation Patch

Thank a lot, Shaya. I was really waiting for this patch to be finished.

Though I did find some bugs while playing the game:
-In chapter 20, the discussion in the house where you can receive a Silence Staff doesn't show up properly.
-Same thing with the boss' speeches when confronting him.

I found a bug in the new patch 006

In the chapter 24 the game freezes when you pass the cursor by enemy Mercenaries.

I'm having trouble with this patch. You offered three different versions, and I don't know which one I'm supposed to use. One doesn't work at all, and the other two are full of glitches. For example, in the opening scene, the very first sentence in one is just "rn coast of Thracia" and in the other it's just "coast of Thracia". It goes into a bit about Fiana village, then APPEARS to work correctly, talking about Leaf and his flight from Lenster to Fiana, and then proceeds to repeat the exact same dialogue about Fiana village again.

I'm using ZSNES 1.51, what I believe to be a clean Japanese ROM, and the latest patches.

EDIT: I tried some more stuff and found a site offering "NP" and "VROM" versions. I used snestool to make a copy of the VROM version with the header removed. I tried all nine combinations of patch and rom, and still no luck.

Get Snes9x. ZSNES is the culprit I believe here. Thats what I've found is ZSNES doesn't like FE games. Therefore I pretty much only use Snes9x and Bsnes. Anyway good luck.

Get the VROM version.

There's three different patches because there is two different roms for the same game; and for one of those types (ROM version), I supplied a patch for both types of rom files (header or no header).

Hm. I see, thanks. Still, that makes it really confusing.

That doesn't really help, though. I already downloaded the VROM version and tried both ROM-related patches on it. I don't know if my ROM is "header" or not, but the fact that neither version of the patch works with it would indicate that that's not the problem.

Curiously, I tried version 5 of the patch and that worked. Why is it that my ROM works perfectly with an outdated patch but doesn't work with the latest one?

Search for and download Snestools.


Use snestools and choose the option to add/remove a header from a rom.

Select your rom(make a copy before hand renamed say original.smc or whatever you want to call it) and choose to add or remove header, sorry i forget which the patch requires.

Once your done doing this I recommend applying the ips patch by using Snestools as well. Simply select the ips patch and then the rom that you've either added or deleted the header for and then quit out of Snestools. Don't worry if it gives you a memory allocation error when you quit out, ignore it.


Fire up Snes9x or Bsnes and load the patched rom. Make sure you play through into the first chapter, not just the intro. One of the patches for FE3 had a messed up intro ages ago and it always confused me:) once you actually had started the game it worked though, go figure. I downloaded snestools and another clean copy of the ROM. It told me there was a header, so I removed it. I tried it with the patch for headerless ROMs, at the results were exactly the same (i.e., opening dialog messed up). I tried it with the other two patches for good measure, and they similarly refused to work.

Header, no header; VROM, NP; ZSNES, SNES9x... nothing's working. I keep changing the conditions, but the problems don't even change slightly.

Right now, I have no idea why the patch refuses to work properly, and it would be a good sanity check, for me at least, to make sure the same problems aren't occurring on other people's games. Could someone who has it working do me a favor and check to make sure the intro to chapter 1 displays correctly?

Hm. So the problem's with the patch then? That's very... frustrating.

Is it really all okay after that? It seems hard for me to believe that the rest of the patch is good except for THE VERY FIRST SCENE. Really, how was that missed until now?

Oh well. I'll let you know what other problems I encounter as I play it.

All storyline that I'm aware of is inserted bar the individual character histories at the end. If you find gibberish anywhere else in chapter related dialogues do tell.

All of my releases are the exact same patch bar the type of ROM it works with. I've had item names inserted for quite a while now.

Seems I've been usurped of my FTP access and my personal folder has been deleted off the website. Don't know why, who knows when I'll find out.

Worse comes to worse my free host I've had access to since I was like 14 had decided to stop being generous to people she hasn't talked to in 2-3 years.
