Everyone goes on about how BExp is abusable in both Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn.  In RD I know it's because it's a guaranteed three-point level, but when people say it's abusable in PoR, is there a specific mechanic they're referring to, or is just that you can flood a unit with BExp and get him extra shinies?

I think they mean levelling someone with BEXP and then resetting if they don't get a good level-up.

I personally do it on occasion to make sure that Rhys ends up awesome.

Save, level up the unit. if you don't like the level, reset. If you like the level especially, save again.

There's another way to abuse BEXP as well. You may have noticed that in most cases, giving a character a full 100 EXP subtracts more or less than 100 from your BEXP pool. In fact, it will probably look quite a bit like bottom chart at http://serenesforest.net/fe9/bonus_exp.htm

However, if you give less than 100 EXP at a time, you end up spending less BEXP overall. For example, at level 1, it costs 85 BEXP to level up according to the aforementioned chart. But if you only give the character 4 EXP at a time (which, at level 1, deducts 3 BEXP from the pool), you can level him up using only 75 BEXP.

I could go on, but I believe that all FE players have sufficient knowledge of ratios to figure the rest out for themselves. Do note, however, that this cheap trick lets you level a character all the way up to 2 Promoted without spending more than 100 BEXP on any given level.

Also note that, to the best of my knowledge, this trick does NOT work in Radiant Dawn.

Given the patience...it will take forever and a half to take advantage of this little tidbit.

True. In FE10, the amount of BExp necessary to give one point of experience is dependent on the individual point of experience (i.e. leveling from Lv n, Exp x to Lv n, Exp (x+1) costs m BExp, regardless of when you start giving BExp). In FE9, BExp necessary is dependent on the level and the number of experience points given at once (i.e. leveling starting from Lv n Exp x to Lv n, Exp (x+1) and starting from Lv n, Exp y to Lv n, Exp (y+1) cost the same amount of BExp regardless of n, x, and y).

Yes. But, I can imagine it's a lifesaver in Maniac mode (to those people who have the JP version) where you don't have that much BExp to spare.
