So, today is the official release date for RD in Europe, but I got it two days early due to reserving it.

So far so good, I'm really enjoying it, as expected. No differences between the US and European versions that I know of so far, but there might be one. It says in the game that Nailah and Volug hail from the kingdom of Hatary; Isn't it Hatari in the US version?

Yes, Nailah's bio in the NA version states that she comes from Hatari.

Well, that's a very random and meaningless change. Now I'm starting to wonder whether or not the game's been translated by an entirely different team, as is the case with Advance Wars: Dark Conflict. Because I fail to see why they would leave everything the same but change that.

Well I don't think its a different translation as the release gaps are too large for that scenario to be likely (with Advance Wars being on top of each other its likely NOE started translating and NOA wanted a slice of the aciton but NOE wasn't going to throw its English translation in ther bin). What I mean is they must have started once the game was out in America and so there is no sense for a new English translation (unless some American coloquialisms were used in which case that gets adjusted).

Most likely its a random change, FE7 had quite a few of these. Bern become Biran or something like that (Bern is a location in Europe, I guess NOE didn't want real locations to in the game ) and Renault became Renaud to name the few I remember.

A few other things:
Easy mode saves transfer.
Theres some new dubbing i've heared. English is probably the same but I heared something about a German dub.

The credits in the instruction manual give a large hint about dubs in the four other European languages that feature.

I'm pretty sure that Mist and Astrid had different names in EU FE9, so the same probably goes for EU FE10 as well.

Maybe other characters had different names too, but I just remember those two.

Easy mode saves transfer.

That particular issue has been fixed, so this really isn't a difference.

Actually, Mist and Astrid's names are the same as in the US version. Well, in English. I know they're different in some other languages.

Also, the descriptions of Muarim and Mist are fixed. I think the description for Mist's sword is also different. While it does say it's a magical blade, no mention is made of it using magic for attack power.

It never used magic for attack power though, just her str stat. Easy mode saves transfer could be seen as something different because the game needed to be fixed to use them, EUs didn't.

I know that. What I was saying was that in the US description, it claimed that it did use magic. It doesn't do so in the European description.

Ah, it just said it was magical which I thought meant that it was able to use the shockwave attack. You know kinda like the wind swords.

The description was slightly more ambigious than that.

Quote
It uses magic for direct and indirect attacks. For Mist only.

What could "magic for direct attacks" be referring to? : /

That's a rhetorical question

My excuse for the that specific sentence was NoA running a slightly misleading sentence.  I think they were trying to explain how the attack was able to be formed, rather than where the power behind the attack came from.  The median--but even then, that explains both sides, in a way.

What does the European version have in its place :?

I just found out that Astra has been renamed to Astrum. Wow. It has been singularified. What a magnificent change.

Also, they renamed Sentinel into "Lancer". I can't check it right now, but I think they renamed some more classes. Impale still says "For Sentinels only" though... =/

Does the EU have the same problem with the data transfer bug?

That particular bug was fixed back in December for the NA version, so I'd assume not, but...

So basically the EU version is just the same as the NA were you have to either delete easy mode or call Nintendo for repair in order to transfer your data right?

No, there is no data transfer error in the EU version. You can transfer Easy mode files just fine.

And Ashera is called "Goddess of Order" instead of "Order Incarnate". There might be more, but since they're all so tiny it's easy to miss them. >_>
