Don't waste your money on this if you have a DS.  If you really need an SRPG, wait for Disgaea or get Luminous Arc or...something.  Just not this.

You're suggesting people to buy Luminous Arc based on plot? Are you kidding or something? The plot on Luminous Arc is so childish, condescending, and poorly-written it delves off into self-parody half way through.

For plot?  Hells, no.  LA's was as cliche as they come.  What the real problem here is, is the fact that it STILL beats out FFTA2 on that point.  But if you're going to get LA, plot isn't on the list.  Gameplay wasn't bad, sound was fairly nice, decent little bits of voice acting; as Superbus said a few pages back, not worth the 30 dollars Gamestop wants for it now, but still entertaining.

And for the record, I actually enjoyed FFTA...with the wondrous magic that is the Space Bar.  Without VBA, I don't know if I would ever have had the patience to play it.
Sheesh, am I the only one who didn't find it unplayably slow? I managed to play it for a number of years and it was never unbearably slow for me... Then again, I tend to expect JRPGs to be slow in general, so maybe that's why it didn't bother me...

==Pretty much the same. Never really found it irritatingly slow.

The DS interation is borderline unbearably slow. Like you mentioned, I wasn't bothered by the speed of the Gameboy Advance iteration, either, but they've made some changes that only make the game slower. As mentioned previously, new items aren't automatically stocked as you prgress through the game: You have to make them using items you find in battle. It's an excrutiatingly tedious experience, considering how many items there are in the game.

I think one of the main things that slowed the game down on the DS was that scrolling wheel on the top screen.

It has to stop whirring around before anything moves forward.

A lot of the menus and stuff like that also take their sweet time before you can take any action.  So instead of waiting on the player to press a button, the player is waiting on the game to be able to press a button.  That's the sad part.  Also, there's needless lag at the end of some chapters, and even after doing an action with a character.

For PSP owners looking a high-intensity action game, and don't mind importing, I recommend Gundam Battle Universe. Like the previous three iterations in the series, Universe focuses on the events of U.C. 0079 and beyond, though each proceeding game covers more ground. (For instance, the first entry in the series, Gundam Battle Tactics, focused almost soley on the events that took place during U.C 0079, while Universe covers 0083 and beyond).

A large focus of Universe is upgrading your mech as you advance through the game: nothing fancy, you just use experience points racked up from previous missions to boost stats like HP and Armor, and power up your weapons. While it's not as comprehensive as some people would like-- weapons are locked to your Mobile Suit and all mechs have identical customization options-- the game makes up for it by giving you, to say the least, a variety of mechs. In Universe, you're able to pilot over two-hundred mechs, between the E.F.S.F, the Principality of Zeon, the Titans, A.E.U.G. and a few more, slightly obscure factions.

I don't want to turn this into a review, so I'm going to cut myself off there. If you're a PSP owner and a Gundam fan, you will love this game. And don't let the Japanese text turn you off. The menus are extremely easy to navigate.

Other recent recommendations include Soul Calibur IV and Final Fantasy IV DS.

As a whole, new suits are unlocked by scoring high ranks in missions. I haven't unlocked everything yet, so I don't know about the Hi Nu, but if you've customized your Suit in the appropriate areas, it should be pretty easy to S-rank any mission. (GP01-FB says hi).

Anyone have a chance to try out Just Breed from the Famicom?  It's apparently a good Fire Emblem-esque game with RPG elements, so it's kinda like Fire Emblem Gaiden, just a lot more polished (I guess).  It uses the MMC5 Mapper, which isn't supported with the PowerPak, so I can't play it on the regular NES yet but I'm gonna be running through with an emulator.  It looks pretty cool, at least.

Having progressed through much of Final Fantasy IV DS, I can say a few things about it. First being: get it. This is a quality game, unlike much of what's coming out of Square these, uh, years. The voice acting is respectable, the graphics are great, the music is wonderful, and most importantly, while the gameplay remains largely the same (a good thing), enough has been changed to make it way more than just a remake. This is Final Fantasy IV as it was meant to be played. I advocate that anyone with a DS get this game.

^ You didn't mention the fact the writing is better and it requires a bit more thinking now than it used to. It being pretty easy to get Game overs with random battles most people experiance this on the sandworms...and they usually havn't saved for a while either and the boss battles requiring actual tactics now rather than spam attacks. Not spoiling much but you'll see some bosses doing the follow not before too long:

Still all that said I'm really not too sure with paying £30 ($60 if we're going direct currency conversion which is a bit daft) for a FFIV Harder type when I already bought FFIV for £20...Square-Enix DS games seem to freefall in price so i'll wait. Which will be a while as its stilla month away from reaching Europe what happened Square-Enix, it seems like The World Ends With You was a fluke since FFIV DS and Chrono Trigger are coming out eons after the US

It's nice to see people enjoying the game--back when it first came out, it seemed like I was the only one, aside from others who played it, who enjoyed the game, and everyone else still resented (themselves) buying two or more of the 14 different versions of FFIV), even if this remake was the definitive version of the game.  I'm surprised Squeeenix resorted to cashing in so quickly with Chrono Trigger, rather than buffing it up even slightly--although a single dungeon does that enough for its fanboys

I'm in the Lunar Subterrain, so I think I have the authority to speak:

Final Fantasy IV DS is maybe the best version of the game ever. The ONLY reason to go back and play an older one is because FFIV on the GBA allows you to experiment with other characters in your final party. Want to replace Rydia and Rosa with Palom and Porom? If you want to, you can! You're also an idiot, but that's here nor there.

I purchased a 60 GB PS3 the other day and was thinking about what I should get for it. I'm a fan for most RPG type games (some are just horrible IMO) but back to this. I'm looking for some kind of adventure, action, or RPG type of game for it. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated. *Currently own MGS4 and Disgaea 3 please don't recommend a FPS or RB/GH I know enough people where I don't have to get them.*

I have all of them, and they are overrallvery nice games in their respective genres.

After about eight hours on Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, I can say with complete confidence that I'm never going to play the game again. I expected from the beginning that Unleashed would be just another overhyped LucasArts endeavor, and uh, that's exactly what it is. The level design, while pretty, is uninspired and virtually entirely linear. Your Force powers also get marginalized after about three levels, when the stormtroopers develop their Force-blocking shields. Huh, I wonder why they stopped using those come Galactic Civil War era. With that said, there are very obviously some canon issues. The game also has demonstrated some numerous glitches in my experience playing it, including a broken camera (just stopped following me for some reason, on multiple accounts), and freezing.

The action's nice, but again, after a few levels it's completely redundant, just like everything else about the game. No reason for a second playthrough, I'd say there's hardly enough reason for a first. Avoid it, even the fans.

Eh, even though you say this, a friend of mine actually thought it was very enjoyable. I've seen so many mixed reviews of this game that I don't know what to believe anymore. Also, on which console did you play it?

I'm planning on buying a Playstation 3 in the near future, and I could do with some games. My interests lie mostly in RPGs, both the Western and Japanese kind, although grinding isn't exactly a favorite, and action/adventure games. I can also like fighters, but they'll have to be good.

Sports game I never touch, I have virtually no interest in them, and shooters only interest me if they're very good. I'm also not a big fan of strategy games (Fire Emblem-ish games being the exception) and don't really like over-the-top action. I'm also not much of an online multiplayer, I prefer playing with friends in the same room, but I don't really need party games. I already have a Wii.

So, can anyone recommend a good game for me? I might sound rather picky, but it's not that bad ... I think.

Folklore, I guess?

I've only played the demo on PS3 consoles in various electronic shops, but other than the borderline psychedelic graphics, it seems to be a rather solid game.

However, since I don't own the full game, let alone a PS3, I'm not sure on how good it actually is, so someone who knows better can suggest others.
