If it works in Vista and RHEL/Fedora but not on PSP, I'd have to surmise that it's a problem with the PSP version of SNES9X. As far as I know that's an unofficial port with several known problems, so I'm guessing the emulator doesn't like some of my redirect code (same problem as older versions of zSNES). That's an emulator bug, and there's not much I can do about that because the battle particle handler requires a fairly sizable amount of code located elsewhere.

After starting up this game again some months later (this time with an english patch on it, hooray), I'm really amazed at how good you guys did with this patch. But there was something that stopped me from continuing the game (temporarily), and that was when the reinforcements sign popped up.
The game started to get all messy, but cleaned itself up one or two seconds later. But after that, a bunch of greyed out Barts showed up around the top of the map, so I looked up there, and then the whole screen turned into a mass army of greyed out barts. I clicked A, and it showed up the stats of an enemy social knight sheeda (who I wasn't using at that time) so I pressed B, but then the whole game finally glitched, and I couldn't do anything about it. The cursor didn't move, but the music was still going on. I had to restart the whole chapter (6).
Anyone else get a problem similiar to this? And is there a way to fix it?

Hmm. There were problems with the reinforcements before, but I thought it was all fixed. I just checked the reinforcements on book 2 chapter 1, and it worked in both versions. So I need a little more information from you.
1) Do you have the latest version of the patch? See the first page of this topic if you don't. If you have something from last November or so, that has a known glitch that's similar to what you described.
2) What version of the game are you using? I play on 1.0 and haven't noticed any problems, and I believe the old bug only crashed 1.1 games.
3) If it isn't too much trouble, could you get me a savestate a bit before the reinforcements show up and cause everything to blow up? If it's specific to chapter 6, I really need to see the code in action to debug it.

I can't seem to apply the patch to FE3. Will the ips patcher work?

Scratch that. Everything in the spoiler has been solved. I got the 1.0 version of the rom, patched that with the fe3.ips patch (Not the v1.1 patch) and Snes9x runs is perfectly.
So, with my problems gone, awesome job on the translation!

Nice job! I've noticed a few things that weren't trans.'d like when I buy something at the armory there is a Japanese symbol (couldn't tell you which though) and slightly more confusing to me is when I choose "restart chapter" it'll show the map like normal then before I start a dialog panel pops up with either a bunch of jap. symbols and random English letters and the options appear something as ZB and BBD (I always click "ZB" and nothing seems to happen dunno about "BBD") and I included a picture of this any ideas? In any case I can still play so I suppose its not that big of a deal just wondering is all And to a more annoying subject a little while ago I got to chapter 5 or so and when Rena died I immediately X'ed out the window and went to play again (retry from the start of the chapter) but It deleted my data! (along with my save states P.S. it only had "New Game" and the other options) I've been known to X out if a character has died (although aside from that time I wait 'till it switches over to my turn) and it didn't happen any ideas here? 'cause I really would like to avoid the possibility of this happening again 'cause I'm on Chapter 14 which is a big accomplishment for me AND all my characters are alive EDIT: never mind I got a back-up file As far as other info goes: I'm using the SNES9X 1.51 and the fe3v11 patch (got it mid to late July this year) and I made sure long ago the game got/had a header so...yeah thats it once again thumbs up EDIT: also 2 other things I found is even though it should have been remedied reversed sentences still appear when one of my characters takes an item from the enemy (e.x. *Enemy* Steel had *Oguma* Steel took) and "CRT" is still "CLT" in my game sorry if I'm complaining too much I just felt I'd point it out finally I have 1 question not related to the gameplay itself (1. *EDIT: never mind already got the answer* (2. Devon_v said: "Chainy's a man as far as I know. He certainly looks feminine, and someplace in the game it does say "she", but the most important thing would be the end-game recap, which clearly says "he", as does the villager in Aritia when you first meet him." I agree that he's a guy (despite appearance) but where are those instances you speak of? I've been combing through the latest version of the script that was put up I have seen the Altea one but I don't know where the other(s) are EDIT: Various bits changed/deleted

I believe that's asking you to save your game, and the options are yes and no. I'll take a look at it when I get a chance. And to a more annoying subject a little while ago I got to chapter 5 or so and when Rena died I immediately X'ed out the window and went to play again (retry from the start of the chapter) but It deleted my data! EDIT: also 2 other things I found is even though it should have been remedied reversed sentences still appear when one of my characters takes an item from the enemy (e.x. *Enemy* Steel had *Oguma* Steel took) and "CRT" is still "CLT" in my game sorry if I'm complaining too much I just felt I'd point it out Hm. I fixed those things up a while ago (though there is still some weird wording in the battle text). You said you got the patch in late July; did you get it from here or somewhere else? The patch in the first link will always be up to date, but I can't speak for other sites that decide to host it. (1. I keep hearing this term so I wanna know WHAT exactly is ROM hacking and how is it even possible much less In a very small nutshell, any old computer program is comprised of a bunch of code (in SNES assembly in our case) and data (go look up Von Neumann architecture if you're interested). Romhacking involves extracting data from the ROM, handing it off to a translator (go Vincent), and reinserting the data back into the ROM. And then occasionally changing the code, too, so things don't blow up.

FE4? if you're here in this board I think you mean 3 Anyway did you try turning the battle animation off? I think there is a way to do that And as far as emulators go SNES9X 1.51 seems to work best so if you don't have that one you might wanna try it

I'm assuming the SNES emulator doesn't properly support the patch. If you want to use the patch, you'll have to turn the battle animations off (as suggested). If that doesn't work, you'll have to play on your PC.

which I've been meaning to ask could you only play it on a PSP or will that work with other portable systems too?

AFAIK most "Portable emulator" projects are based off old branches of SNES9X, which may lead to the compatibility problems.

Havent used a Snes emu in ages (Infact, I downloaded it just to play this ), so I may be missing something obvious here. Just a heads up. Downloaded the ROM from two, maybe three different sites, and tested all before patching. All worked. Patch them, and I get a bad checksum error on starting the game and dont even get the shield logo at the beginning. Tried both the 1.0 and 1.1 version of the game (With respective patch), on both bsnes and SNES9X. Am I missing something here, because it seems to work fine for everyone else...

AFAIK, you should get a bad checksum error for most ROM hacks.
You might need to add a header to your ROM (or was it remove the header? I can never remember...), which you can do using SNESTool.

Aye, I tried that. Problem is, it wont show any ROMs in snestool. Or any of the others I tried, barring IPS patcher...Which doesnt do headers. All are smc files.
