I was playing through FE5 this weekend and at chapter 6, Augustus (the weird bishop serving Lifis' gang), mentions the stone staff, which can be used to heal people's petrification, such as poor Eyvel. However, then he says that statues of the people from the Battle of Barhara can be seen in ranges there, aka Sigurd and Co (well, everyone except Sigurd, Cuan and Ethlin, since Sigurd was burnt to a crisp and Cuan and Ethlin were stuck on Gungnir).

So I am wondering, if you do the gaiden chapter where the Kia staff is obtained, and Sara is recruited, does it imply some kind of storyline twist, where Leif pays a visit to the desert and de-petrifies statues of Azel, Lachesis, Beowulf, etc.?

To put it really bluntly, and because there's some sort of anti-one worded post system going on...

...

No.

No plot twist; no definite they're there or they're not there. You can only rescue one. And that one person is uhh, set in stone, so to speak.

No.
You live for causing mayhem, Shaya, I deeply respect that.

Well, that's a dismay. I mean geez, why does Leif have to be so selfish all the time? Sure, he HAS to go save his adoptive mother instead of trying to win over Nanna by saving Lachesis instead. Sad it cannot happen, it would have been nice to see a bit of a brighter ending in some kind of Seisen+Thracia all-in-one remake.
