My brother had his senior ditch day today (and will again tomorrow).

So I was thinking; for my senior ditch day, my excuse on the first day was that I was suffering the effects of syphilis (the kicker that made this amusing was that it was right after prom weekend). My excuse on the second day wasn't all that funny; I went to confer with God (in the music department, we consider one woman to be a god), and it was a long way to heaven and back, and I promised to bring back souvenirs from heaven (I brought a bag a coffee from Starbucks heaven).

What sorts of excuses did you guys use for your senior ditch days (or well, any other time you felt like ditching)? Obviously, I am not looking for run-of-the-mill "I came down with the flu" answers, just anything that was entertaining, either to call in or of itself.

... when I was in highschool, I didn't give any excuses for my absences. If I didn't feel like going to school one day, I just thought to my self "fuck this shit" and stayed home. As long as it wasn't on exam days (or worse, standardized test days), I was fine.

Also, I have a question. Are your teachers drunks? Cause that's the only reason I would see in accepting any of your excuses (even the syphillis one). Did you even need a doctor's note?!

I didn't take Senior Skip day; I literally played basketball at school all day. Sure beats sitting around the house jerking off all day!

I looked upon Senior Skip day with disdain. Nothing more pointless than wasting time in such a way.

Senior what day?  You guys have some weird shit overseas...  We sure didn't get anything like that at our international school.

Though I admit we skipped a lot of days during the last month of high school, after everything was settled.  Downtown was only a seven-minute train ride away, so we'd often go hang out at Starbucks, waste money at the arcade, play basketball at the city gym, etc.  I made sure to keep up with the classes I cared about, so it was no big loss to me.

At the high school, the school requires a parent/guardian to call in to excuse you for your absence. Multiple unverified absences usually become a Saturday school. I think eventually a student is dropped from the class. Since Senior Ditch Day was a special tradition that even the teachers honour, we had our parents use the wildest, most implausible excuses. Our parents say it, the office has to accept it. Whether it actually gets cleared as a verified absence, I don't actually remember, nor did I care enough to find out.

@Bus ~ You still skipped classes, then? So did you just leave your absence unverified?

@FL ~ Nor at mine; that's why I was actually quite excited to be back in the US for my senior year but I still couldn't apply to UCs as a resident... It probably wouldn't be a big thing now, but I would have been annoyed to miss Senior Ditch Day, Senior Servant Day, Senior Beach Day... etc.

Why have classes? We had 10% of the class in school! Seriously, making us attend classes would have been pointless; it was basically a large study hall. So basically, as long as we behaved and didn't interfere with the underclassmen, we were cool.

No senior skip day here.  The school administration twigged on to the plot and made it clear to both students and teachers what would happen to those who tried it.

I spent my year at college.  Although, my Junior year I decided to do all me Senior ditching then.  Although, it was mostly me just not bothering to go to classes.  Nothing really harmed anything

Dunno if anyone here actually followed through with Senior Skip Day. The problem is, there is absolutely NOTHING to do within about fifteen miles of the school, so it would have been rather pointless.

I think there might have been those "dun skip skool kidz" faculty members, but I had no part of it.

Actually, I never skipped school at all, probably for the above reasons. Also, my senior year was the part of high school where I actually was enjoying some of it. Goofing off for half the day at school sure beats going home and jerking off all day, as Superbus said..!

there is a bed within fifteen miles of the school

I couldn't skip on our "senior skip day" since I had enough absences from flu/vacation that I would have lost credit if I missed another day of class. It was pretty near. Me, the other two people that didn't skip, and my English teacher had a pretty cool heart-to-heart about life after high school.

Then after that I just decided to fuck it and skipped anyways after clearing it with my other teachers.

At my school, it's actually official... It only counts for exam exemption, so those with 8-10 absenses went to school, along with those that didn't feel like skipping, and those that got grade-changing extra credit in physics classes...

I was in the last group, but left early. I did college stuff that I would otherwise probably not have done... <_<

Senior skip day was the monday following senior prom weekend during my senior year. Basically went to the beach and Six Flags for the extended weekend.
Any days I skipped during senior year were just skipped. I didn't skip all that many though so it wasn't a big deal.

We operate a large kitten farm in Texas, providing thousands of domestic felines for release into urban areas each month. We rely on the freshness of Tuscan Milk, as our kittens will not drink anything less. During the Italian milk drought of '03 we lost hundreds of puss, because the kittens refused to drink anything but Tuscan Whole. Thankfully Tuscan also produces their Fresh Powdered line, which is canned at the teats of elderly bovine. Thanks to the Italians, Texas streets will always have plenty of healthy long-haired puss for stroking. A+++ Will do business again!!!

Senior skip day?

And then you guys complain about your education system

Is this like a tradition or whatever?, cause whenever I didn't want to go to school I just went over to a friend's house who lived in the area and played Rock Band.

Schools are pretty different in Australia. Well, at least private schools are. If we wag school we miss out on a hell of alot, and this only contributes to getting worse grades later on. So skipping school is probably worse than going to school. Not to mention since it's a private school parents don't want you wasting their money.

Wait, America has a Ditch Day?

Guys. It isn't a school-sponsored event. It's just something seniors do near the end of the school year when there isn't really any schooling left to be done, and whatever schooling could be done is lost to senioritis.

I didn't really do senior skip day. But I did skip all of my arts classes, citing the 'Senior Skip Day' card if anybody asked.

My school actually called every seniors' family to make sure parents knew about it, and told that it was okay we were skipping school.

Ow the chafing...

Anyway, I didn't skip on Senior Skip day, I was already in trouble for missing school on a lot of days and didn't feel like having to make up more hours.
