I LOVE tennis. It's my favorite sport, even though I live for football (soccer) as well. I'm generally more of a fan for men's tennis, and my favorite player is Andy Roddick. I play singles and doubles, and love both.

Did you watch the French Open? I was disappointed to see Serena Williams go out in the 3rd round. I am happy that Ana Ivanovic won but besides that, it was a disappointment. I like Andy Roddick. I just think that the domination of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer has hurt men's tennis.

I love playing women's tennis (obviously) but I can't really stand watching it because I hate the grunting. I have rarely heard women grunt in "real life," or rather, off the professional courts, and I've seen some tennis players that could play the French Open if they really wanted to, so it's not like it's the "power" and the "effort" they're putting through. I mean men do it too but they seem to be quieter overall. I also agree about Nadal and Federer; I believe they have a LOT of talent, but I also think that they need some more competition and I hope that comes soon because it's not really fun reading about them all the time. I like variety.

Used to play when I was 15, now I just watch it when I get the chance.

Today Nadal kicked Federer's butt on Roland Garros mainly because the terrain, anyway...

I played very little tennis when I was younger. I am not physically fit to play tennis.

I'm sure others could do the "then get fit!" shtick better, so instead I'll just say you don't have to be in that great shape to at least enjoy tennis.

I myself like it--I do better playing rather than watching, though. With occasional exception (e.g. the Nadal/Djokovic semifinals from last week, which I watched an hour of), I just don't have the attention span to sit through a whole match.

Plus Mario Tennis might be my favorite N64 game ever

I tend to be on the internet when I am watching tennis. That way I have an escape if it gets boring, like the French Open finals the other day.

Our team is having having a closing get-together for lunch tomorrow. I wish I played better during some of our later matches, but I guess that always happens, right?

On a less personal level, I haven't been keeping up with the ATP lately. Is Nadal's #1 secure or are him and Federer still neck and neck? And is the "season" over?

I don't watch too much professional tenins; I would if I had the time, but unfortunately my schedule doesn't allow for much watching, let alone playing. I miss my courts...

With Federer's loss to Murray today at the ATP Madrid tournament, Nadal's #1 spot has been solidified. Great match today between Nadal and Simon though, with it being over 3 hours long.

On another note, I get to play tennis today, so whoo!

I love the sport but since I don't get to play much, I usually only play it casually with my friends.

I would also love to watch tennis on TV, but I don't get any sports on it besides horrible American sports (baseball and football).

Yesss... a tennis topic now. Superb.

I don't actually play it myself, and my enjoyment of watching has only grown on me in the past couple of years; mainly during last year's Wimbledon when Nadal came to my attention for the first time. Seeing him play Federer in that final was incredible (even more so with their clash this year!)

So yes, I'm in awe of those two, and I'm a recent convert to the Andy Murray camp, I have to say. I used to dislike him, because of the way he gets so hot-headed and apparently immature (scowling and gesturing to the lines after losing a point, as if somehow they were to blame), and because it's a running theme in British sport for our professional players to not really distinguish themselves anywhere.

But I have to admit, it only took this year's U.S Open to sway me. I saw part of his match against Melzer on the T.V while staying in Germany, at a point where Murray was losing. 'Typical', I thought, only to find out at some point that Murray had won that match. Then when he had to face Nadal, and I thought, 'well, that's the end of it; he had a good run, but now he's going to lose.' After all, Nadal had torn him apart at Wimbledon...

But no! I checked on the BBC news website to learn that Murray was winning, had in fact taken the first set by storm! So I tuned into the live commentary being streamed on the site, and enjoyed the rest of it. I was just so amazed and impressed. No matter that he choked in the final against Federer. As far as I'm concerned he did great.

EDIT: Oh, this topic's been here for ages. Ah well. I'm glad people have posted in it again.

I really don't care much for the professional tennis stuff on television, but occasionally my brother and I play some tennis right next to a coyote-infested copse of trees, though we spent more time chasing after the ball than getting actual passes across. It's great for exercise, at least.

However, that was then, and now I barely have any time to contemplate a round, let alone actually play.

Plus Mario Tennis might be my favorite N64 game ever

I have the Virtual Boy version, which got me into tennis in the first place

Mario Tennis is amazing. If there's a game you SHOULDN'T play, it's Top Spin 2.

It's a great sport when a long volley gets going, but it kinda irritates me when someone is at the baseline bouncing the ball on the ground, then gets ready to lift it, but then goes back to bouncing again.

I'm pretty fond of almost all the racket sports: table tennis (rather mad I didn't get to see any competition during the Olympics), badminton (same as table tennis), but I don't like squash.

Racket sports in general are fun and I enjoy playing them.  I especially like Badminton, but Tennis is also fun - the only thing about my playing that bothers me is how I swing too hard.  I played baseball for a couple years and am more used to that on top of Badminton, that's why.

I don't play it that often anymore, but when I get the chance I do try to participate.
