Hey, guys. Just like at the old forums, post your lists (Score 1 = Weakest/easiest. Score 10 = Strongest/hardest)
Here's my list of the ones I've played.
Rank 1 (Wimpiest): FE8. What can I say? It's just short an' easy. With the world map that looks like USA, it's understandable why they made this one unlike the others.....Too....easy.
Rank 2: FE4. GAH. Okay. It is easy...but with large maps...I couldn't get past the first one. Just REAL REAL REAL Large maps.
Rank 3: FE2. Weapons don't break. Can always refight...can it get any easier? (Never played a fully translated version)
Rank 4: FE3. Fun. Marthy. Has it's harsh moments, but still fun.
Rank 5: FE1. Good ol' classic Marth. Harsher than FE3, IMHO.
Rank 6: FE7. Finally our first Fire Emblem worldwide. Quite fun, but has some slit wrist moments.
Rank 7: FE6. Roy's a good guy, but not recommended to play this before FE7 for obvious difficulty reasons.
Rank 8: FE9. REAL LONG. It's okay to play, but gets pretty messy. I guess someone should've told Ike to "Stay Back"
Rank 9 (Hardest in my book): FE5. MAKE THE HARD GAME GO AWAY, MOMMY!!!!!!!! FE5, STAY BACK!!!
FE 10 Ommited for never having played it
That's my list. Feel free to post yours.

I'm not going to include FE1 or FE2, since I've never played them.
1. FE8 - Too easy, even without Tower and Ruins abuse.
2. FE4 - Holy weapons. Need I say more?
3. FE9 - I'm referring to the North American version here. Can't really think of anything specific to say.
4. FE3 - Some tricky spots, but for the most part, not too bad.
5. FE7 - It scores this high only because of Hector Hard mode.
6. FE10 - DAMN THE DAWN BRIGADE TO HELL.
7. FE6 - Units weren't that great compared to other FEs, Roy having a late promotion, the reinforcement deal, etc.
8. FE5 - The only right answer for hardest game in the series.

I tried to make a list, but this series... Fire Emblem's never given me a tough time. Stupid mistakes are the worst I come across. Thracia's (FE5) just really annoying most of the time, and Maniac Mode in Souen (FE9) was choked full of high-stats and that's about it. The harder the difficulty, the slower you charge, and the game never really seems to get harder overall. For me, at least.

FE8 - No need to explain.
FE7 - Didn't have many problems here... I've played it loads so that's why.
FE4 - Quite borked.
FE9 - FE9 NOA wasn't too tough, although I'd say it's the middle of the series in terms of difficulty..
FE3 - I found the lack of 2 RNGs and the old evade mechanics annoying.
FE6 - Roy sucks. I hate him because of this game ;/ It's also annoying as hell especially on hard, so...
FE10 - I was overwhelmed. On Normal Mode. ~_~
FE5 - No explanation necessary.

FE4- Your characters just get ridiculously powerful in this one. There are one or two hard spots, but this is largely a joke.
FE8 - I was annoyed a lot by the Pirate ship chapter, other than that this game is quite easy (and bad at that).
FE2 - I never knew or cared much for or about this game, I do, however know that it is not hard at all.
FE1 - Not much to say about this, it's a pretty boring game and there are a couple tough spots, but it's generally not a challenge.
FE3 - Similar to FE1, but I found that there were a few places were I had some problems, mostly easy though.
FE7- Harder than it's given credit for, imo. Some of the chapters are rather tough, though after around maybe chapter 22 or so I don't remember anything being very hard.
FE9 -Just has stronger enemies and a few rather annoying points.
FE6 - I had serious problems with some of the early chapters, it became a joke later on though.
FE5 - No surprise here, I actual feel like this game did a reasonable jjob of sustaining the difficulty, compared to the other FE games anyway,

The ones I've played, most difficult first, easiest last
FE5>>FE6 (HM)>>>FE7 (HHM)>>>>FE3>>FE9 (american version)>>FE4>>>>FE8
Also, FE7 HHM is probably harder than FE6 HM if ranked, me thinks

Okay, so let's see here. None of the Japan-only FE's are in my list, so with that in mind, let's go; 1) FE8. It got really easy after a while, I guess. 2) FE9. I breezed through this one really quickly, too. 3) FE7. I couldn't fucking kill that stupid dragon for ONE FUCKING YEAR! I'm not kidding! One year! (Granted, I didn't know that the weapons you get in that chapter could kill it, so that was a real pain in the ass...) The rest of it was pretty hard too, though... 4) FE10. Dawn Brigade. That's all I'm saying about this game. (T'was fun, though. )

FE4>FE8>FE2>FE10>FE9>FE7>FE3>FE1>FE6>FE5
FE4-This game is no doubt easiest as you can have unlimited revivals and that the children get overpowered with good pairings.
FE8-Because of getting the opportunity to getting unlimited EXP.
FE2-Same as FE8 and that this is the only game in the series to not get any reinforcements.
FE10-Because of having the opportunity to battle save, the only thing difficult of the game was Micaiah's team as her units start off very weak and that her missions are even more difficult in the Maniac Mode.
FE9-This game was more difficult than Radient Dawn, as there are NO battle saves no matter the difficulty setting.
FE7-The only real challenge to this game is the HHM.
FE3-This one is harder as without proper preparation, you'll get owned later in the game and that the arenas' RNG can be quite cheap at times.
FE1-You do get ridiculously more money in this game than in any other FE game and that with the arenas, you are at the mercy of the RNG. Some of the missions are quite difficult like...
Starlord Marth Mamkute Kingdom
.....as with the amount of reinforcements that you battle, you may consider letting the character go if they die as these battles are like the longest in the entire series and that alone is what makes this game quite difficult.
FE6-This is definitely the second hardest game in the series as the HM especially, you really cannot use some characters such as....
Wolt-Because he is ridiculously weak. Lugh-Because of his higher change to getting screwed in growing Mag. Ward-Because his insanely RNG screwage in speed makes you want to sacrifice this unit if you lose him in combat. Roy-He is weak in the HM, he can get screwed in growing Str and that in the HM, even troubledours are stronger than him. =3
The beginning of this game especially is quite difficult as the enemies in the HM are quite overpowered.
FE5-This game is the ultimate challenge, some chapters in it will give you a headache, especially the Lenster Castle chapter as while during the fustration the dancers dances to make this chapter more fustrating that is if you want to get their items.
-Bad RNG as it only ranges from 1-99%.
-You often get critted alot.
-Some battles can drag on for quite awhile, you'll learn to hate chapter 24 Gaiden as at certain points in the map your characters will get teleported down to the darkness of hell where mages will beat the crap out of them until they die and that without a Rescue Staff, the character is doomed to die.
-You also cannot bring any character into battle that you want as they will tire out and that without stamina bags, you cannot bring the character until the next mission after that.
-Your stas caps at 20
-Weapons are quite expensive to buy.
-The AI is smartest in this game as it is smart enough to even have enemies go and buy weapons from the weapon store if they get stolen.
-There are many of those damn arches that will drive you nuts.
-It has Cyas that will make chapters 17A and 22 INSANE.
-Statuses will never be removed without a Rest Staff.
This game is truely a masterpiece of difficulty that we may never see again, if you want a real challenge, this is definitely the game to play!

FE4-This game is no doubt easiest as you can have unlimited revivals and that the children get overpowered with good pairings. How long does one own the Valkyrie Staff, though? Hell, there's a chance you may not even get the staff the second generation. Not to mention the cost of repairing the thing. FE2-Same as FE8 and that this is the only game in the series to not get any reinforcements. Ever notice how many groups appear on the overworld attempting to stop you from moving on? Those are the reinforcements for Gaiden

-The RNG is smartest in this game as it is smart enough to even have enemies go and buy weapons from the weapon store if they get stolen. A smart random number generator?lol You might want to fix that, since AI and RNG are totally different things. EDIT: It's not just the 1-99 that makes FE5 hard, it's that it doesn't use the 2 RNG system later implemented in FE.

Battle Saves don't exist on hard/maniac mode, which is only made worse by the fact enemies are more common and more powerful (along with annoying gimmicks like the removed weapon triangle).

Lugh-Because of his higher change to getting screwed in growing Mag. Ummm......what? Lugh is one of the better units, especially as he uses the broken anima and you NEED a mage early on. I haven't played 1-3 or 5, so... FE8: Infinite experience, terrible enemies, easy S-rank weapons...bah. FE7: HHM aside, not bad. HHM included...ouch. FE4: There are some tight spots in this one, but overall, not too hard. FE9: GODDAMNIT BLACK KNIGHT! He's all, "I'm gonna come out of a house and KILL YOU! AHAHAHAHAHA!!!!" FE6: Your Lord sucks. I mean, SUCKS. And the rest of the army, bar a few exceptions, are subpar too. FE10: Dawn Brigade.

FE8 -> FE1 -> FE3 -> FE2 -> FE9 -> FE4 -> FE7 -> FE6 -> FE5
Lack of actual rankings will make a game "easier" because there is nothing beyond that point to accomplish, there are other things in some games(like gathering up 89237489748978943 supports for 100% completion for example) that aren't so difficult as repetitive.
FE5 is the hardest hands down not because of the system alone, but also because it has the most absurd rank there's been in FE to date(SSS rank, lolwtf almost impossible legitimately)

1) FE8 - Tower whoring, brilliant recruits, easy monsters. Need I say more? 2) FE7 - Sometimes tricky bosses, a varied set of characters and weapons, can be easier or harder depending on who you choose. Overall, it is quite challenging but not horrible except for the ultra-tough HHM. 3) FE9 - Tough bosses, Black Knight, Ashnard's medallion on hard mode, Enemy laguz can be tough (especially the dragons). 4) FE10 - Most enemies are really strong, some stronger than your people (especially during Dawn Brigade segment). Not really enough money to buy best weapons all the time. I haven't actually completed this yet (I'm on part 3).
I've not played any others, so I can't comment on them.

isn't FE8 also the one where you get all sorts of super weapons? (i forgot, i only played it once ~_~)
either way: FE8 then FE7 FE9 FE10
...i've only played those ones, so my range is limited, but even FE10 wasn't THAT hard...(probably never gonna try maniac though) it was more challenging, for certainly, but in the enjoyable kindof way. not the frustrating kindof way.
it sounds like FE5 is the hardest.

FE8 was easy because the enemies blew and there was near infinite abuse with no ranks and that kinda stuff... FE4 might be what you're thinking of, but you do get "super weapons" in FE8. Just, they're not as super as FE4's holy weapons.
Actually I'd think that Battle Saves make FE10 less irritating as opposed to tough... less restarts. Though, you may end up using them conservatively (or better yet, not at all due to forgetting it's there).

Yeah that totally irritates me about Hard Mode, I really don't think it makes it harder myself. Making FE10 HM harder requires restarting whenever Nolan gets a speed up.

well, everyone agree that FE8 is the easiest game of the serie.
next would be FE7. I never have a problem in this game, except for 2 or 3 parts.
FE9 isn't really hard if you have a balanced army...of course, if you want the max bonus in chapter10, this is another problem..
FE4 is medium. Holy weapons are a blessing, but some parts can be tricky, even if you know what's about to happen..huge maps are fun, though
FE3 is also not very hard.
FE6 is the second hardest FE for me, with (somehow) very unfair RNG and some serious tricky parts..
I didn't mention FE because it starts to be too old to be playable in my opinion (I never manage to play through the first map). FE2 is a mix bag, you got infinite level-up possibilities on one hand but on the other hand, most characters are rather bleh...
FE5 is the hardest, with the 1~99% hit range, the missable healing, lots of reinforcement, bad statuts which never fade away.....
