Hey y'all! I've been replaying my copy of FE8 (on DS) for the fourth time recently and have just recently come up with an idea on how to use the CEG (Control the enemy glitch). Now I never used this glitch until my latest playthrough, but now that I've learned how to use it, I've mastered the timing on using it in conjunction with the special tiles like lava/snag originators/etc. I came up with an idea, though, on how to use the glitch for something new.
On chapter 10 Ephraim there are two fleets (boats) offshore that carry ballistas. While ballistas are normally only useable by Archers, I was wondering whether these ballistas were special. For instance, the magic used by Mogalls and Gorgons can be used by anyone, and one in particular, Stone, can give dark magic experience. I've used this glitch before to give Tethys and Lute dark magic, but I was wondering whether the ballistas on Ch. 10 could be used similarly?
So on to the questions:
1) Has anyone here ever used CEG to get these ballistas before? How? What do they do?
2) What would be the best way to get these ballistas? A) How hard is it to use CEG without a special tile? How can this be performed? B) Once the enemies are controlled, how to get the ballistas? I) My idea is to have Cormag (who you get later) fly around and trade the fleets to get them. II) Alternatively, have the fleets move to the edge of the water and trade to another enemy, then to lord. C) Is there any other way to get the ballistas? Summoner/Phantom glitch?
As you can tell I really want to see what I can do *without* hacking if possible, just using the glitches within the game. Thanks so much guys!

I've tried it before and from what I recall the ballistas were only usable by Fleets.

Ah cool, thanks for the info both. Do either of you happen to remember how you got them? How hard is it to do CEG without a special tile? Any tips? I've been trying to do it in the tower and it hasn't worked at all.

Use cheats to get them.
As for the glitch, if it is at all possible without a special tile, it's probably around a 1/60 of a second (one frame) time window.

It's possible since the base of the glitch is processor time (Special tiles take up more processor time and we stand a much better shot of intercepting the required command on one than without- I think the number is even worse than 1/60, but I don't remember the exact one I've seen), but highly unlikely.

AR and GS are both cheat devices. They do the exact same thing, just with different code encryption.
