should i make her a sniper or a ranger? i dont think a sniper would be smart considering the near useless skill.and a ranger would have the addition of a sword. but stat wise i dont know

Ranger is widely accepted as the superior choice. I don't think I've ever seen anyone argue that Sniper is better than Neimi. It actually doesn't make that big of a difference, though.

Ranger because it can use swords and has more move. Sniper is pretty useless during the enemy phase.

Keep in mind, though, that rangers can't use ballistae.

Not that she really needs them...

It really depends which fits her class the most. Personally, Snipers are really "bad" class since they're completely stuck with just Bows which is really bad in a situation where you'd end up being "ganged" up. Rangers is a better choice because they're able to use both Swords and Bows which makes them better in both melee and range. But really, Snipers are really better in range than they are with Rangers. But even still, I'm much better off with a units that can do well in both melee and range than just a really good "range" unit attacks. Despite the fact I really hate the Ranger's sword battle animations...

I myself rarely use Rangers with Swords simply because I prefer Bows since Neimi will have a higher level then.  Granted, I will equip them from time to time to raise it to at least a Killing Edge level (since I fucking love those things lol), but other than that not really.

The 2 or so Move AND utility of actually having a melee option (that I myself rarely use, but I only speak for myself and potentially Neofox when I say that) trumps anything the Sniper has going for it.  Which is basically nothing except slightly better caps..

Keep in mind, though, that rangers can't use ballistae.
I don't bother with ballistae because they go from at least being able to evade everything on enemy phase to complete shit (iirc with GBA FEs anyway, since Ballista [I THINK] weigh them down and take away their counter attacking options from range 2...  basically, they change their weapons).  Really not worth it either since they rarely double, but I'm really not entirely sure of specifics so you may as well correct this point.

Snipers more or less are there to get fucked with razors when they get attacked.

Rangers are actually surprisingly good with Blades.

The GBA games do not have the ballistae replace your archer's currently equipped weapon. Only the SNES FEs do that.

Anyways, snipers really just have better caps in this game and that's pretty much it. Unless you really like snipers, it's probably better to go with the Ranger (even if Neimi's defenses are bad enough that you'll probably never have her use anything but bows...).

Neimi's defenses are fine considering how she'll have a shitload of evade by the time she gets to a Ranger anyway.

Tower rank doesn't really matter if you want to go through the game with Neimi ~_~

Neimi as a ranger. better promotion gain, more range, two weapons, no useless skills(sure shot has no use as Neimi is often at 95-100%Hit and ballistae are seen in 2 maps).

should be a ranger because not only can she use
swords, she also has a higher speed cap as a ranger to go
with the fact that has a higher speed growth than
skill.

Snipers in this game - really, in every portable game - are Nerfy McNerfnerf.

Definitely ranger. Don't forget her top support is with Colm, and if you're going to use one, you should be using the other for support bonus... and you want the rescue bonus.
