I've bought mine for 29.99 and also bought MKDD as it came with the bonus disk at that time which I have used it to install the bonus disk information at that time.

Um... I paid nothing, both for the JP version and the NA version. My parents bought the JP one for me, and then my mother bought the NA one when she returned to the US for a business trip.

The point is that the game was very new at that time (thus I didn't know if it's better than FE7 or not), and the multiple promotion option really got me interested to the point where I've spent $50 for a new FE8 cartridge of my own. |
