Hello all, since I finally got a Wii, I have some questions to ask before I get FE10:
-For the data transfer, can you transfer from the memory card in slot B? My slot A has some wiring obstructing it (my Wii is modded), so I can't use it unfortunately. Just out of curiosity because I don't really have non-easy difficulty epilogue files to transfer from.
-How long does this game take to beat for a veteran FE gamer? I hear it's really long, but...how long?
-Some of the unit's abilities are starting to scare me, for example, BK's Eclipse quintuples STR apparently and negates DEF. If it activates, should I might as well say OHKO, or is there something else I'm missing?
I may come up with more questions later.

-How long does this game take to beat for a veteran FE gamer? I hear it's really long, but...how long? Normal mode took me a week on the first playthrough. -Some of the unit's abilities are starting to scare me, for example, BK's Eclipse quintuples STR apparently and negates DEF. If it activates, should I might as well say OHKO, or is there something else I'm missing? Nihil breaks past Eclipse. Not that it matters, since rarely any bosses or enemies will have a third tier class let alone the skills; only final chapter bosses and, if your units are powerful enough in the last two chapters of part 3, will your enemies have any sort of third tier occult skill.

Where's VincentASM when you need him. Hello all, since I finally got a Wii, I have some questions to ask before I get FE10:

Don't forget to check on your memory card from POR like say for instence that your epilogue file is in the second slot, load up a new game on your memory card from the same slot and it will ask you whether or not you want to transfer your data to the game.
-How long does this game take to beat for a veteran FE gamer? I hear it's really long, but...how long?
It took me like a week to finish it.

Over the course of school, it took a bit over a month to finish the game, not including the half month I was stuck on chapter 2-F and decided to take a break. I'd say a week or two seems about right for summertime.
As for skills, the mastery skills are more or less meant to be one shot kills against regular enemies and massive damage against non-Grasp (Nihil) bosses (and one-shot kills against your own units). At the very least, the only enemies that'd have mastery skills are bosses, and normally, you'd be using the units with Grasp against them.
As for the data transfer, I have no clue.

Let me warn you of one thing I did horribly wrong. If you have a unit in your party that isn't really growing well, don't think "Ah, screw it, I'll just wait until I get a better unit to replace that one". You don't really have a choice about which units to use until the very end. This old FE-mentality made part 4 really hard for me. My party was so unbalanced, ranging from Lv.1 2nd tiers to Lv.10 3rd tiers. I surely wish someone would have warned me beforehand.

Oooh one last word of advice: make sure your fortify staff is fully intact for the final chapter.

Grasp? I thought the Japanese name for Nihil was Awareness or Abandon...

In all likelihood (having not really looked into FE10), it's the internal name for the skill (because I think that it was the same in FE9). No real point in trying to grasp what they were thinking at the time they named it as such.

This old FE-mentality made part 4 really hard for me. My party was so unbalanced, ranging from Lv.1 2nd tiers to Lv.10 3rd tiers. It's not that bad. I only brought the minimum plus 1~2 for each non-final chapter in Part 4 (with the intention of using only characters that would be used in the final chapter). That way, the untrained characters won't become liabilities. (For that matter, the only units I ended up promoting to third tier were unit that were used in the final chapter plus one of the forced deploy Falcon Knights, I think.) Oooh one last word of advice: make sure your fortify staff is fully intact for the final chapter. Or just have half of your party capable of using staves. A bunch of Reblows (Physic) or Relives (Mend) or even just everyone with a Live (Heal) staff is fine. Grasp? I thought the Japanese name for Nihil was Awareness or Abandon... The Japanese for Nihil is [mikiri] which can be translated as 'abandoning' or 'seeing everything' (the fan translation of 'Awareness' is from the second translation). The internal name in FE9 (the first game that has English internal skill names) was 'GRASP' which I assume is the same usage of the word as in 'to grasp the situation'. In all likelihood (having not really looked into FE10), it's the internal name for the skill (because I think that it was the same in FE9). No real point in trying to grasp what they were thinking at the time they named it as such. Interestingly enough, the internal names of all FE10 skills that also appeared in FE9 are the same as the FE9 NA translations, with the exception of Cancel (FE9NA Guard, I think). So, Grasp/Nihil's FE10 internal name is 'NIHIL'. In general, I use the FE9 internals as the official-ish translation for skills that aren't new to FE10 ('new' defined as 'not in FE9') with some modification ('STARTRICK' (NA Astra) is 'Shooting Star', 'FRAC90' (NA Blossom) is 'Blossom', etc.).

Well, it was my first playthrough back then. I didn't know how long the game was so when I finally was able to use my weakest units a little against the golden guys, I didn't need them anymore. So, you could say, I totally screwed my first playthrough up. Good thing I used the easiest difficulty. >.<

-How long does this game take to beat for a veteran FE gamer? I hear it's really long, but...how long? Depends on how good the veteran is, that's all there is too it. Some guy on gamefaqs is working on beating it in about 3 hours game time. (of course he's restarting constantly so real time would be much higher) I'm guessing that you won't go over 30 hours, unless you're prone to making stupid mistakes (like me) and your arthritis fingers end turns early for you, which tends to kill exposed herons among other things.

Stefan is found in almost the same matter, in Part IV, Ch. 3, there is a spot on the map that you step on with Micaiah to get him, and he comes with the Vague Katti. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of the spot, but also note that Saints can SS Light & Staves.

Note that Lethe and Mordecai can also be used to recruit Stefan, if they're on Micaiah's team.

Did we ever find out if that was through FE9 transfer only? I just noticed that serenes forest mentioned that when printing off the table of the treasure for myself

Well, I've spent quite a bit playing this game, and now I'm at the last chapter (part 3). Anyways, I have some questions:
-Are Ragnell and Alondite able to damage foes with Mantle? Mantle's description reads that weapons that are not blessed by Yune will do no damage. As we all know Ragnell and Alondite are blessed by Ashera... -Where can you get a Thoron tome?
EDIT: I'm on easy difficulty and my gameplay time is in the mid 30's so far, mostly because I try to kill every enemies in the chapter (including reinforcements) for the sake of experience. The thing I could rant about right now is that I can't bring enough people for the final chapter for my liking. Here is my team:
*= could not bring into final chapter
-Ike: Vanguard -Rhys: Saint -Soren: Archsage -Titania: Gold Knight -Elincia*: Queen -Kurthnaga (training) -Caineghis -Tibarn* -Naesala -Nailah* -Shinon: Marksman -Gatrie: Marshal -Nephenee*: Lancer/Sentinel -Brom*: Marshal -Jill*: Dragonlord -Haar* Dragonlord -Volke: Assassin -Sothe: Whisper -Micaiah: Priestess -Rafiel (unfortunately, he died due to a stupid mistake and I was too lazy to start over) -Geoffrey*: Silver Knight -Edward: Trueblade -Nolan: Reaver
...that should be it. I may have missed someone, but oh well, that gives an idea of my good units.

As we all know Ragnell and Alondite are blessed by Ashera... Ragnell is always going to get blessed by Yune, but yeah, unless you choose to bless Alondite it can't break through Mantle. -Where can you get a Thoron tome?
I'm pretty sure you can buy them by part 4, if you don't get any beforehand.

IIRC, you can only buy Thoron from Aimee's shop in a certain chapter... Part 4 shops go to Arc magic.

-Are Ragnell and Alondite able to damage foes with Mantle? Mantle's description reads that weapons that are not blessed by Yune will do no damage. As we all know Ragnell and Alondite are blessed by Ashera... Between chapters 4-F-2 and 4-F-3 (before the 4-F-3 preparations), you get to mess around with your units' inventories. At then end of this, each unit's equipped weapon will be blessed by Yune and get infinite durability (very useful for the SS-ranked magics as they normally have only 15 max durability). At this point in the game, Ike is forced to equip Ragnell for the remainder so Ragnell will always be blessed. The thing I could rant about right now is that I can't bring enough people for the final chapter for my liking. I think everyone has that problem...
