Come on. Someone here has got to love Coldplay like I do. Chris Martin is an amazing guy, and Viva La Vida, while different from their other albums, is mint. I love their music.

For someone who hasn't heard their music extensively, I recommend watching/listening to the following: "Lost!/Lost?" (actually two songs with the exact same lyrics but different tones), "Violet Hill," "Trouble," "God Put A Smile Upon Your Face," "Shiver," "The Scientist" (in which Chris Martin took a month to learn the lyrics backward--watch it to find out why), "Yellow," "Speed of Sound," and, one of my personal favorites because it's so cute, "Talk."

Technically passable. Stylistically insipid. Lyrically whiny.

I like to scoff at Coldplay, but I love how they sound. I don't much care for the lyrics.

I'm a fan as well, but I don't know what to say that I didn't already on Mercury. I found out yesterday that their show at the Pepsi Center was already sold out. =[

Bleh.

That's about the best I can say about Coldplay: meh. Totally uninspired dreck, in my eyes. A corporate concoction.

"Don't Panic" and "Yellow" are virtually the only songs of theirs that I've partiality to. All others... not so much...

This year, the US got The Go!Team, whom I've been listening to since the Junior Kickstart EP. Which makes up for exporting Coldplay, I guess, for which we should have been prosecuted under international war crimes law. But, you know, you keep fucking with us at airports and we'll keep sending you educationally subnormal ponces with socks for hats. -- Warren Ellis, Minor Deity and British Drunk
