The game is officially out on the 7th, but some fans got their hands on the game early. There's few details right now, but it's technically past the pre-release period, so time to post stuff about the game : o

Key details (pre-release and etc.)

Quote from: SwordsAreShiney (because I'm lazy)
- the weapon skill stat, which was used to determine which weapons a character could wield has been replaced by weapon levels
- the weapon triangle exists (but is only +/-5%, apparently)
- there are new prologue chapters that weren't in the original game
- there are gaiden chapters added in as well
- new weapons, such as a prf spear for Sheeda
- new characters, such as Freyr, a Social Knight
- a feature where characters can change their class (to any other class of their tier), however at any given moment the amount you can have of each class is limited (so, you can have, say, 5 armours, 4 social knights, 2 mages, and so on maximum, for example)
- Marth still does not promote
- online multiplayer in which you battle on an actual map with your story mode characters (though there's apparently only one map you can battle on, which is kinda lame...). Random or friend battles, and friend battles will have voice chat. There are also rental characters and several options you can change (turn time limit, fog of war, etc.)
- 6 difficulty modes; normal mode, for beginners, as well as a total of five hard modes (though I don't know what the differences will be between them)
- the game will not have battle saves like in Radiant Dawn, however, there will be one-time save points at certain points (like before boss battles, I'd imagine) on maps

* General FAQ
* Info on classes
* Rental units: Copies of playable units that you can trade with another player directly using the Wireless/Wi-Fi connection or by downloading/uploading from the Wi-Fi server. Can be used in the main story and in the multiplayer mode. Exp gained by the Rental unit is awarded to the character that it's a copy of.
* Online shop: Accessed via Nintendo WFC. You can buy items here using the in-game currency.

Images

* Image directory - Will be updated randomly.

I'll update this post with any new important info that's found (and by anyone else as well).

EDIT

Quote
Hmm, apparently Class Swap is slightly restricted. These are the possible options for non-promoted units:

Abel, Freyr, Kain, Gordon, Riff, Navarre: Cavalier, Archer, Myrmidon, Mage, Priest
Doga, Oguma, Barts, Saji, Maji, Daros, Kashim: Knight, Mercenary, Fighter, Hunter, Pirate, Dark Mage
Sheeda, Rena: Pegasus Knight, Archer, Myrmidon, Mage, Cleric

The Wi-Fi video had Abel as a Dragon Knight, so maybe there are more options upon promotion?

* Forge and text viewer are back.

Vince, you're pro'lly enjoying being virtually the one site everyone flocks to for information, especially about this new game ~_~

More copies are apparently cropping up--c'mon, where's a dump guys D:

Likin' the mugs so far, but Kashim seems a lot more like Marty than some kid who's frail--stupid.  Not that that's a horrid thing.  Can't wait 'til I can get the game.  Should be rather easy to dump the graphics, considering how IS has done then for the past two Advance Wars titles.

To be honest, I don't really or do I? I don't know anymore.... I do enjoy seeing the info though : P

Anyway, it's looking likely that the ROM won't come out until the official day of release. However, that's mostly speculative, so don't take my word for it.

That Paladin's color palette looks awfully similar to young Marcus. =/

Anyway, some class change options seem kind of unusual. I have hard time imagining Navarre as a Priest or Riff as a Myrmidon. Although making the axemen into Knights doesn't seem like such a bad idea (assuming they still have their high defense growths).

Unless magic uses the strength growth, I don't think anyone is going to want a Dark Mage any time soon

There was a forged weapon shown in the Wi-Fi battle video (though very briefly). (I just realized it was forged when you made that post.) Red Team's Oguma had a sword named [ma-ki], if I recall correctly.

Haha, Minerva's weapon is Hauteclere. I knew they couldn't pass up a name like that, especially after it was left unused in FE9.

EDIT

Right, I updated with a couple more screens such as one that shows Minerva. Also it looks like the text viewer is back.

EDIT2

It seems the Hauteclere might be one of three legendary weapons. I wonder which of the Miracle Sword, Gradius and Partia they booted out? o__o

Has there been confirmation that they are still three? My money is on Miricle Sword. I was always confused as to why Est was hanging onto it (this is where that thing called plots comes to own me). Partia was given to you by a Royal and Gladius is used by one.

Anyway screenshot confirmation of Wolf and Zarago being worse than Jeigan...at leasts its really appartant that they suck now (being promoted and all). At least Wolf comes with a sword as well (its kind of sad when the best aspect of a character is their starting inventory).

I had a feeling class swap would be limited...I know we all wanted cross-dressing pegasus knights but...looks like Doga shall be a fighter. His growths seem more suited to that. Unless he now has defence growth...

Anyway, it's looking likely that the ROM won't come out until the official day of release. However, that's mostly speculative, so don't take my word for it.
I'd say its depends on Hong Kong as they've got the release networks to propogate it. Stores in Hong Kong have it now so given this is a title in some demand it'll be seen (titles with little-no demand tend to take weeks to get dumped).

Apparently its description says it's one of the "Three type of Weapons" (literal translation), which is the name for the royal weapons.

Also, I'm betting on the Miracle Sword as well... I wonder if it'll be Marth only like in FE1 :?

My guess on the Class Swap limitations is:
1. Classes are split up into two groups sort of a Speed (Myrms/Cavalry/Mages/Bishops set) and Power (Hunter/Axe weilders/Dark Mage set).
2. The only difference for the Speed sets is Priest/Cleric and never in history of the game have Pegasus riders been male. Hence Abel as a Dragonrider only after promotion.

I think it was already revealed what the limitations were.

I wish.  Tank Beat 2 has been out for a while, but no one ever got that game dumped, despite many people wanting it.  I might end up importing it some time, 'cause I don't think that thing is ever going to come out >.<

Wendel's the fucking Pope! ! !

I'm still going to end up using Ulf and Zagarro...

I think it was already revealed what the limitations were.

Yes, we know that Abel is a (Prepromotes) able to be a Cavalier, Archer, Myrmidon, Mage, Priest, but {Promoted} able to be a Dragonrider (and assumed Paladin, Sniper, Swordmaster, Sage, Bishop).

However the most obvious reason why he can't be a Pegasus rider is he's not a female.

Meaning that whenever everyones tested to every Class it'll basically split up as I suggest, which follows the evidence on hand (provided that the Wi-Fi demo wasn't lying about Classes).

Wasn't this just gone over?  For Ilian pegasus, that's how it goes.  If memory serves, all generic enemies in its original are male pegasus knights.

Evidence for one game isn't evidence for all   No big deal, though, if he can't be a Pegasus Knight.

It looks like the ROM might be out now. I'm currently DLing it (hopefully it's not fake).

I wonder what to do first... Hack the ROM or play it? :Hmm:

It is real Screens in a tic...

Let us begin...

Notes: Make sure you have the newest version of No$GBA (last modified may 5th 2008). I had an older version and was getting 20% speed. A newer verison yields speeds closer to 100%. Theres still a few bugs like sometimes the top screne not functioning correctly (not displaying chapter names) and no sound effects.
