Because my sense of self worth and reason to live depend on recognition on random internet forums that I visit maybe a few times a month, otherwise why would I bother giving a few mild compliments on said internet forums? If I had any independent sense of self worth, I wouldn't bother with anything that wasn't witty and insulting to someone right?
