I made this thread to gather some info on what characters have good alternative classes, or you can just share your favourites here. My contribution: I think Wolf comes out pretty well as a hero (or heroine; I keeping thinking she he is a woman), hero Wolf is better than horseman Wolf in my opinion.

His stats at lvl 20/20 as a hero:

HP: 51
Strength: 23
Magic: 0
Skill: 24
Speed: 26 (maxed)
Luck: 13
Defence: 21
Resistance: 1

This is the first real thread I've made, I hope it's good enough

I haven't played the game, but looking at a couple old favorites it would seem Roshe is total ass as a cavalier, but as a myrmidon he's not too bad (since his main problem, his speed growth, goes up a decent amount). When I get the game I plan to make him into one since he was a favorite in FE3.

You're... Different. We all are. Him especially. But there's something kinda fantastic about that, isn't there?

Wendel as Swordmaster, Sniper, Paladin, or Dragon Knight. I like it that his speed lead allows me to use him as a Jeigan. In my opinion, He outclasses Jeigan by a long shot due to that.

Haven't really played around with it yet, but in theory Roshe far better as a Swordfighter/Master and would seemingly be possibly even better as an Archer/Sniper.  He relies purely on his class for Spd growth and Archer/Sniper gives the best growth and gains on promotion out of his class options- with that being his weakest point, he's more or less salvaged from a shitty Cav he was in FE1 (he was awesome in FE3 Book 1 though...)

Similarly only on paper and not tested in practice, Saji's got potential as a Hunter/Horseman.  Maji's got potential as an Armor Knight, though his base Def isn't what we'd normally call Armor material, he'd end up with a nice growth and he'd be a decently fast and lucky Armor too.

I need to play around some more and see if Villuck has the potential to be more than just sucking so much to make everyone else look better, a role he so proudly fulfilled in the past.

He's not pinin'! He's passed on! This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! He's expired and gone to meet his maker! He's a stiff! Bereft of life, he rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed him to the perch he'd be pushing up the daisies! His metabolic processes are now history! He's off the twig! He's kicked the bucket, he's shuffled off his mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!! THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!!

I usually make many of the healers Mages for a bit, before returning them to healer. That way, they can get some Battle EXP, boosting their levels a bit. Then again, they do get a LOT more EXP from Staves in this game, so that might not be quite the idea it could be...

In fact, they get so much more EXP from staves that just the opposite idea should be suggested, IMHO.

Most of the Pegasus Knights except are good when changed to Paladin. They don't get screwed over by the Dragon Knight's 23 speed cap. Paladin isn't much better in that regard (and it'll cut off Luck for Sheeda pretty early as well), but that can mean the difference between doubling or not in Hard Mode.

This is a little shakier, but Caesar made a surprisingly good Dark Mage. Not exactly H5 material though (hell, now that I think about it I don't think anyone really is  ).

BoNam'oLafs

I actually calculated everyones averages for all classes. (Too much free time . . . Just basic averages though.)
Some surprising and some not very surprising results.

On the subject of Roshe: Swordmaster doesn't make him any better. He doesn't get any more strength than Freyr/Kain/Abel. And on top of that he loses 7 speed and 11 luck. (Same about everything else. Oh, and the speed advantage is actually much bigger because the other Paladins average up to 40(!) speed as Swordmasters. The Swordmaster's speed cap makes the difference look smaller.)
So unless you really need a Swordmaster that's slow, easy to hit and takes a lot of damage (9,6 Def) . . .

Barts trained as a Fighter before promotion and axe using Hero after overshadows Oguma in every way.
But literally anyone is good as a Hero anyway (even Daros). But just looking at the growths I wouldn't have guessed that I really should try Roger the Hero. Roger? Isn't that the Knight that was missing in FE3? How about maxed strength and speed, almost maxed luck +50HP?
Some combinations to try:
Freyr the everything (The choice is up to you.)
Doga the Berserker (No Def available.)
Maji the Socerer (Don't expect >15 Mag though.)
Tomth the everything
Katua the everything (Most overpowered unit. Let's take Swordmaster as an example: 54.8HP, 23.2Str, 29*Skl, 30*Spd, 21.4Lck, 16.2Def)

With Barts I prefer to make him a pirate as the difference between fighter and pirate is fighter has 1 more speed but pirate has 1 more defence plus can walk water. I never found the speed to be an issue but the increased durability was nice.

After a few maps of using Barts as a Berserker I switched to Hero and went...oh...

The problem with class swapping averages is few players are going to stick as just one class but there is no other way to do it without getting way too complicated.

Kain as merc/hero seems interesting to me. note that I haven't done this yet, just a theory.

HP 95%
STR 40%
SKL 50%
SPD 60%
LCK 40%
DEF 10% (lol =[ )

Sorry dynamo, but you've posted to a thread older than the necropost limit of 14 days. Review the Manual of Prowess if you haven't and if you want to revive a topic in the future, ask a staff member first.
