Do not mistake the title for some kids' show. Yes, it has "cute" animals in them, but this show has a fair amount of gore in it so it's definitely not kid material, nor for the queasy.

Anyway, Happy Tree Friends is both an internet series, and a short TV show. Since Wikipedia can explain more for me, I'll just leave it at that.

HTF may be completely pointless in plot, but I do take interest in the fact that any action/object/thing that is seemingly harmless can lead to adverse consequences (and the fact that I have a penchant for gore - nothing satisfies me more than the simple sight of body parts flying everywhere). For those of you who do watch this show, what are your thoughts?

If you do take a interest in this show, then YouTube is the place to go. Some episodes of the TV shows can be found separately, uploaded by different users.

Happy Tree Friends is entertaining for a few episodes, but after awhile of predictable "VIOLENCE LOL" it gets kind of boring.

The random violence of Happy Tree Friends instills in me a sense of fatalism so inescapable that I wonder if there will ever be salvation for any of us .

Pretty much. I watched it a lot when it was part of Attack of the Show. Now, I'll infrequently stumble across it on Youtube, watch a few til I get bored, and move on.

Though violence is predictable, this in no way is meant to take credit from the occasional creativity of the deaths. They can be pretty funny in a sick way.

It's hard to add anything to this thread after this.

At the very least, the animation shows what Flash is capable of. Besides this and Homestar Runner, there's little good animation to be had and it's mildly annoying to see the software package squandered the way it is.

This may be the most bizarre thing I've ever seen said in response to this series.

This may be the most bizarre thing I've ever seen said in response to this series.

I mean it. All of the characters start out with the best intentions. Sell lemonade. Take a walk through the forest. But through random freak accidents (or divine retribution) they always meet a bloody end. Getting their face chopped off by a shoddy sign. Being forced to saw off their own legs off with a spoon. The entire viewer experience leaves me with a sense of intense hollowness, as if I have come to the realization that no matter how optimisticly or good intentioned we approach life, we can only expect an unjust end and wish for a quick death as reward for our efforts.

It is one of the most disturbing and fatalistic commentaties on the human condition I have ever witnessed.

I've only seen the episode where some magician moose ends up cutting some rabbit half while performing a magic trick...

I couldn't feel my stomach for while after that... T_T

Although it was still kind of funny... You know in a sick macabre way...

(Ha... I said macabre...)

Happy Tree Friends is both freaky and kind of funny, though I agree with EXPANSIVEFIGHTER about it becoming the same after a while.

I don't know if anyone else here knows about it, but HTF bears shares some similarities with the Newgrounds series Retarded Animal Babies, although it doesn't just contain copious amounts of violence; there's also supremely tasteless sexual content and random idiocy. I find it extremely funny, which surprises me.
