Indeed, I was busy marathoning FE6 myself. Started on Sunday night, finished a couple minutes ago.
It just had to be done: I had only played it once, in Japanese, 5 years ago. I figured it'd help me not to commit stupid translation mistakes due to original plotline ignorance.
Too bad it froze in the short character endings part and stuff. Oh well. brb reading @ Vincent's site
Either way, I haven't translated anything since Friday, and that means chapter 25 is only 30% done. I'll try working on it today, I guess.

Well, I've only played this and Disgaea 2, but I'd definitely recommend checking it out. The only bad thing that I can see is the general lack of voice acting, otherwise it seems to be as good as the PS2 version.Er... I'll get to proof-reading Chapter 26 soon. I'm on the final chapters of both Disgaea DS and Odin Sphere lol |

It feels so strange. Zeed, despite his creepy Steve Buscemi-esque appearance and what I thought would be a one-shot villian introduction, is suddenly become an appealing, sympathetic character. Didn't expect him to become so likable. Then again, there is this disturbing love triangle he almost seems to be caught in with his own sister and Narshen.

Although the fact he had a character sheet from the start was enough proof that he would have some importance (how many enemies got stats, after all?), his character development was completely unexpected. I'd say it was actually a personality change.
He isn't in a love triangle with Narshen and Jemmie. It's just a pure, incestuous relationship between the two siblings. It just wouldn't be Fire Emblem without incest, I guess.
Talking about (lack of) dedication: I'll leave this week at just two chapters. 26 will be posted here as soon as Vincent proofreads it. I have barely started translating 27 (like 4 pages), after all.

You're right, forgot about the character sheet. And I was joking about the other part. Probably wasn't the correct term anyways, since I meant the relationships seperately. The incestous relationship is rather obvious, and there were a few frames the past couple chapters that made me raise an eyebrow with Narshen. Just odd, but it's things like that that make the manga rather fun.

Oh, Zeed looks creepy and nice at the same time...not many characters can do this. If he joins with Roy...Jemmie probably will follow him if she can. Though Jemmie is somehow creepier than Zeed. Girls always are creepier when they are sweet, chipper and cold at the same time.... .... .... Zeed - Narshen...it's a funny relationship they have, so throwing Jemmie into this makes it downright hilarious. But is the incest that obvious, I wonder? ...it also might just be overprotective-ness from both sides. Ohh! I guess I'll try out Disgaea for DS...teh only console I can use. Hurry up, Vincent...pleeeeease!!! |

Obvious in the sense that anyone familiar with the character archetypes in the Fire Emblem games should recognise what's being alluded to, regardless of whether or not anything is actually implied between them. Still, in ch. 25, I can't imagine too many brothers visualize their little sisters in so sensual a pose. Then again, given the artist and his apparent fondness for certain, eh, attributes, maybe I shouldn't be surprised. (seriously though! Well, the volume title kind of says it already. About Roy, two things. First, this manga isn't canon, and some aspects of it differ from the game (for instance, Guinevere is sent back to Bern instead of Miledy taking her to Roy's army in Nabata and some mysterious guys collecting Divine Weapons around the world), so... open-ended endings aren't an issue here. However, on the other hand, the manga priorizes the development of the original characters, like Al, Tiena, Gant and Zeed, leaving even Roy in the background; so, chances are the author didn't even care about defining Roy's mother at all... where can i find this manga raw? Volumes 1-9 are somewhere on mangahelpers. If you find 10-11, I want them too. |
