... Zaggaro and Wolf have amazing growths, yet every other prepromote is just as gimped as they always have been?
With the exception of Jeigan I guess(I noticed he actually grows... a little... now). I've been playing the game and just started using Zaggaro into around Chapter 18 and haven't been disappointed with him at all, quickly caught up to my other guys and is probably going to be one of my strongest in the end at the rate he's been going.

Yet when I use other units like Astria, Samson, Lawrence, Medea, they're just... shoddy compared to unpromoted units having fantastic growth potential with the new stat caps, most prepromotes won't even come close to scraping them; the equality factor they had with unpromoted units that existed in the original FE1 & FE3 is pretty much gone now.

Oh well

I found that weird too. They've made the other units more usable, yet they've kept the pre-promotes (aside from Zaggaro and Wolf) as they were. Actually, with the new higher stat caps, they now suck even more.

A shame, IMO, because I always like using pre-promotes and some look pretty cool. George and Astoria, for example.

I can see why they did it. It was as those two units were utterly abysmal (argubly not moreso than some non promoted units). However, class swap with the Hero Class being absurdly good along with completely over the top growth rates is an improvement too far. I'd say class swap is the bigger culpret...

Now there is one thing I realise...outside of the data how are we supposed to know those two naff units actually have uber growths? Its doubtful anyone would know (a kind of accidental find which everyone would dismiss as luck...until 10 level ups of it ) if it wasn't for the data as those two characters aren't exactly the first players jump at. Especially after nearly 20 years of avoiding them.

Makes me wonder if things will change for a US release probably not with Wi-Fi and all...it not being fair out pre-promotes have good growths while Japanese ones are substandard

Personally, I'm pretty disappointed to see that IS only bothered to salvage two characters that I don't particularly care for. I wanted more balance, but it seems like there's even less.

I'm probably going to have an even harder time making Jeigan usable now.

Jeigan actually got slightly buffed in usefulness on hard modes, being the only person that can use the Silver Lance until Hardin comes around.  Even his growths are a bit higher (still useless, but no longer as much of a joke as they used to be).
