Okay, I'll try to be more clear this time...

If Begnion is known for being protected by mountains, why was that not pointed out in Radiant Dawn when Gallia invaded Begnion from their border? IIRC the only natural defense it was noted they had to go through was the river, which they struggled to get past and eventually lost control of.

In PoR I'm pretty sure they had to take the long route around because if they had tried to go through the Gallia border, Daein troops from Crimea or Daein could have ambushed them on their way to the capital. However, I'm not so sure about this info since it's been a while since I played... I'm pretty sure the mountains weren't the reason they had to take the long boat ride, but I'd need to play it again to be sure.

Gallia has secret knowledge of the "beast paths" (don't know what they call it in the English version), which lets them cut directly from Gallia to Begnion. Nobody else knows about them.

During Radiant Dawn, when the Laguz Alliance are forced to retreat, they go through Kauka Caves because they don't want Begnion to find out about the beast paths.

Basically, getting into Begnion wasn't an obstacle for Gallia.

This is the first I've heard of them... Either they aren't mentioned at all in the English version, or it's been longer since I played than I thought.

In 3-8:

Quote
From there, they will try to make their
way to a hidden road that will lead them
out of Begnion and back to Gallia.

Quote
Ike
They're definitely moving faster than we expected. At this rate, they'll catch us soon. Any ideas?

Soren
...With the enemy closing in so quickly, it would be unwise to use this secret passage. If Begnion found it, it would give them an open invitation to surge across Gallia. Your king would not be pleased.

Ranulf
We can't expose our country to that danger. We have to think of something else.

Yeah, they didn't really stress it well.

Also, I think they used the shortened-down dialogue for the English version (the Japanese version had more dialogue in Hard/Maniac). I'm not 100% sure, but it looks that way from the 3-Prologue dialogue o__O
