So let's say you want to try them out, but you don't want to kill off the mothers of the real kids. I managed that with Tiltyu once, and a friend of mine managed it with Bridget. But would it be as easy with the other five? Or at least the girls from chapter 2, I imagine Edain and Ayra would be impossible. >.>

Hopefully this isn't a redundant question, but why don't you want to kill off the mothers? Striking out the easiest method sounds a little strange if you ask me ^^;;;
Anyway, I seem to recall there's a code that might help. Although my memory about it is really foggy...

I'm incredibly anal about keeping everyone alive, and since most of the mothers are either incredibly kickass or useful in other ways that's two strikes against it. And I'm not into cheatcodes. ^^;

Ok, first keep a constant eye on their love points with the fortune teller, if one of them is close to falling in love kill either the girl or the guy then raise the one you killed with Valkyrie. As long as they were not lovers this will erase all of the love points between the two. Yes you will have to let some characters die but you can get them back and it will not be cheating, just keep fast growing pairs apart until you get Claude and don't let him die. Hope this helps.

The reason you would not want to get round pairings by killing people is if you're doing a ranked run and making your life a living nightmare by using subsitutes... In that situation my only advice would have to be don't let the characters fall in love by making there not be enough time for it to happen. i.e. finish maps quickly...making it not too different to ranked runs with pairings...

Well, since I'm going for Janne and Tristan I guess that means abusing Macbeth for EXP is out, lol. And Lachesis's talk events aren't anything overly special (I figure she'll be okay even without the stat boosts from Beowulf, and I don't use the Thief Sword much anyway) so I figure I can skip those.

Hmm, well if this isn't a ranked run, you could just kill of the mothers in chapter 5 (which shouldn't be too hard considering the bosses...) If it is a ranked run, then just make sure the females are standing by themselves and finish the maps ASAP.

Well, I decided to go for Hawk and Femina instead because I wasn't about to do second gen without Charisma. (I know, lack of Sety is blasphemy and hooking Levin with Sylvia instead is DOUBLE blasphemy, but I've decided I don't care who gets Holsety as long as they can use it.) I figure if Fury's best option is taken and she's off on her own a lot saving villages anyway it'll be easier to keep her single.

If Charisma is what you want, then laylea (sylvia's daughter's substitute) comes with charisma...
And just a note, make sure Levin is paired by chapter 4. If I recall, there's an event that happens which gives Levin/fury enough love points to fall in love.

I might just go for both sets of subs at some point, then...risky gamble, but I want at least ONE unit with that skill, lol. Since I'm going for Levin/Sylvia that should be easy, lol.

If I recall, there's an event that happens which gives Levin/fury enough love points to fall in love.
Said event is activated by the talk command (I recall it giving 400 love points or something utterly insane like that). Unless you are talking about the Fury and Sylvia ending turns next to each other "rivalry" conversation which does activate by itself.

According to our resources, there is no bonus for that event directly. You are thinking of the talk, which results in a +290 gain. It's instant love because Fury starts with 210 with Levin.

He's not pinin'! He's passed on! This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! He's expired and gone to meet his maker! He's a stiff! Bereft of life, he rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed him to the perch he'd be pushing up the daisies! His metabolic processes are now history! He's off the twig! He's kicked the bucket, he's shuffled off his mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!! THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!!
