Which is better?

Neimi or Innes? I prefer Innes, but that's most likely due to the fact that he doesn't cry if somebody does something nice for him.

EDIT: I looked back and realized it wasn't clear- Who do you personally like to use more?

Character? Innes. Color scheme? Innes. Stats? Neimi, though it shouldn't matter. Class? Forest Knights seem awkward after being used to Nomads... all the same, they're better than Snipers for me.

Gameplay wise, Neimi is better by a lot.

I enjoy using Neimi over Innes. Neither of them appeal to me as characters, so I take Neimi because she's the stronger of the two. That, and I like Rangers. Innes is also an incredibly ridiculous name.

The only period where Innes is better is when Neimi is being a detriment (earlygame) and when Innes joins on Eirika route (better stats + can use Silver Bow). For the rest of the game, Neimi is superior.

I only use Innes in Ephraim's mode during the desert chapter to take down those Pegasus Knights that spawn by the Silver Card. Neimi easily outclasses Innes, but she's difficult to train in the beginning of the game due to her severe lack of strength.

Mount + an option to attack melee is definitely better than slightly better caps.  Especially considering how good enemy stats aren't in this game...

But seriously, though, I like Forde the best out of the Cavalier trio. He's a fairly amusing character while the other two are kind of... blergh.

For battling, I would rank them Franz > Kyle > Forde. They're not that much different though. Franz has a huge joining time advantage, giving him supports, but Kyle and Forde have 5x to level up in on their own (and Ephraim might not even need training since he gets autoleveled on Eirika route, meaning more for them...).

Franz has Seth to support for sure, and easily fills up with one of Forde, Natasha, Gilliam or even Amelia.
Forde and Kyle can support each other, and Ephraim. Forde has also can support Franz, Vanessa and Eirika, all good units.
Kyle has just Colm and Lute besides those mentioned, but he has probably the best affinity out of all of them (since it gives Avo).

Franz does destroy the two other Cavaliers, but I think Forde is better than Kyle. His supports are a bit more reliable, since Franz is desperate for his A support. Gilliam's Movement is too low to keep together all the time, Seth A supports Eirika so her offense is great in the first 8 chapters and in Ephraim's, remains strong on rejoin. Also, I'm not entirely sure if Natasha and Amelia will be played, since the former has support issues with anyone other than Franz, and the latter joins far too underleveled.

Forde gets Franz A, Eirika B on Eirika's route, and probably Franz A, Kyle B on Ephraim's.

Kyle would probably be better if Colm A was faster. But at his join, Colm might already A with Neimi and build a C with Moulder. And Lute has Artur and Vanessa.

All things equal, they average more or less the same.  There's a tiny bit of variation like a point or two difference for any given stat between any two of them, but for what it's worth considering what you fight in the game, it's not a big deal; it's not like comparing Kain and Abel to Marchis and Villuck.

That considered, I prefer Forde of them.  His supports are more fun than the other two, who are kinda boring workaholics.

Amelia is also a potential cavalier... and as far as fighting goes, I prefer Amelia. Her lower hp is so irrelevant in this game.

Within the Franz, Forde, Kyle, Seth... not too much difference, really. None of them are Sain, Lance or Alen.

If you want to talk about move gaps, Seth definitely wants to A Franz rather than A Eirika, especially if you go Ephraim route. Otherwise, Seth is A-supportless during Ch9-Ch15, when he could be gaining bonuses and giving them to someone else (Franz, Natasha, Cormag, Garcia, you name it).

Natasha support issues? She supports four good units and one crappy one (Knoll). She can actually form a nice support triangle with Seth and Franz. Not that anyone really has support issues in FE8, since there's so many good units that you can nearly always make a near perfect chain between 6-10 of them.

Her lower hp is so irrelevant in this game.

Endgame maybe. Before that, she's awful in every category including HP.

Maybe just a bias based off previous experience, but I always find that Forde is the most, err, broken of the cavalier trio. Kyle generally fails, and Franz is okay, but whenever I use Forde he almost always reaches his caps in strength and speed, and gets pretty close to hitting the others.

I prefer Forde's personality, but I also like Kyle, because ... I dunno. Maybe because he looks cool. Even so, I always end up using Franz because I get him the first and the non-existing difficulty of this game makes me lazy.

Well, for me it's Neimi WAY over Innes. Not being able to attack close up is a big problem. And caveliers, Amelia>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Kyle>Franz>>Forde. I've no idea what you mean by bad stats for Amelia. As a lvl. 1 cavelier, she was as strong as any of my other caveliers (who were like, lvl. 15) and almost a match for Seth at level 10!  Needless to say, she's insane as a paladin. Kyle always seems to be harder to level up, but far stronger for his levels. Franz, well, you get him early, so that's a bonus. Forde, he's just not consistent. Sometimes he seems like he could beat a level on his own, but most of the time he can get his butt kicked by anything but a healer, and even sometimes by them.

I use Neimi more than Innes just because I want too, and because I have the option of having her use swords. Although personality wise, I like Innes more than Neimi.

As for the cavaliers, I honestly don't know which one I like better than the other; I use them depending on my mood and what units I have already chosen, so it's random for me (and I don't particularly like one over the other both personality wise and stat wise, so it really is dependent).

I end up using Neimi most of the time, but I hate her personality and don't like the way she looks. So I sometimes drop her in favor of Innes.
