i couldn't see a topic like this in this section, so i decided to start one...
so who's your favorite?
my personal choice is Fir, ability-wise, personality-wise, and because i consider swordmasters the second most useful classes (lords not included) only surpassed by falcoknights
once i actually managed to cap 5 of her stats (if i remember correctly i only used one angelic robe to get those stats)
caps: HP 60 Str 22 Skl 29 Spd 30 Luck 30 Def 22 Res 25 stats: HP 55 Str 22 Skl 29 Spd 30 Luck 30 Def 22 Res 17
and in FE6 the swordmaster class still had a 30% crit boost, so if you add a wo dao onto all that awesomeness you have a +/- 90% chance of landing a critical hit each strike, making her, in my eyes, one of the strongest units in FE history (even though i know that the chances for those stats to occur again is close to zero)
and my favorite villain would have to be zephiel, simply because of the fact that he's plain awesome, and that exaccus isn't exacctly making him any worse xD

Marcus. Anyone his age who can still participate in combat is awesome in my book. I don't think I could have made it through the first few chapters of hard mode without him, either.

Lugh. Not just anyone can be a balanced, awesome unit, and still wear shorts.

Rutger. Despite struggles with strength, a Swordmaster with a Watou already has 70 crit not including skill. Add in his high skill which will likely cap, that becomes 84 crit. Add supports... Plus, he's emo and sexy. And he supports Clarine. Close favorites are Clarine, Klein, Sofiya, and Fil (whose most noticeable stat advantage over Rutger is her Luck). I also like Brenya and Gale.

Igrene, because I just dig snipers. Plus she's the type of pre-promote I prefer. (High base stats, low growths)
Other than that, I'd guess Lugh, for wearing such short shorts and being awesome, Dieck, because he's just amazing, and Shin for being a male nomad.

FE6... this will be hard.
I guess this is as it goes. Melee ppl: 1. Rutger-With an A support with Clarine, S-rank sword and a Wo Dao, He's scored 100% crit on an enemy once. 2. Alan-Strong, less-than-average skill, and decent everything else? Count me in! 3. Dieck-A tank, but still very useful. 4. Lance-Speed. You really can't live without it. He doesn't have bad stats either. 5. Sue-Bows, AND swords? I'm getting lucky. 6. Zeiss-Great strength, decent everything else, and crappy res. SHWEET. 7. Miledy-She flies. awesome. Not to mention the fact that her def is rock-solid.
Magic ppl: 1. Ray-There's a kid who wants to rule the world. With those stats, he CAN. 2. Lugh-Ray's twin brother, more of an angel. Still, he wears shorts. 3. Lilina-Hector's daughter and like him, she has an overpowering damage rate. 4. Clarine-She got 118 avoid once, and she wasn't on anything. just a plain. 5. Sofia-The change from harmless to deadly. I say, that half-dragon in her only shows when she's a druid.

Lilina for both gameplay and story/support reasons. I'm a sucker for her kinds of supports and I do love the nigh instant support level ups with Roy.
Lugh for similar reasons, though his eternal bucket of sunshine personality doesn't really mesh with the rest of the mood of the cast, who are in general kinda depressing.
Treck- Lowen tried to jack his style and failed. Also, he fights battles while asleep on his horse, come on, you can't say he's not a badass. Pair him up with Gonzales for the most thought provoking conversations in the game.
The little trio of Dieck, Klein, and Clarine- between the three of them, I found them rather amusing, particularly because through them you really can see how they created Pent and Louise. Klein looks cool and you gotta give him credit for wearing that shade of purple in battle, shame his bases aren't so great because his growths are pretty good by this game's standards. Dieck's just all sorts of awesome statistically and his conversations are pretty amusing in some cases like with Klein, Thany, etc.
Fir's okay, but I find her character to be best when Karel and Bartre are involved, she's kinda plain otherwise. Speaking of Bartre, I really do like his portrayal in this game over his younger form. Still got that boneheaded manliness, except it's being overpowered by paternal instinct, the man dispenses fatherly advice in just about all his conversations.
Karel is one of my favorites in both games actually, speaking of him. Considering how he talks in this game, 7 did a good job bringing his descriptions of his past self to life for us to see. The guy in this game is pretty awesome too in support and in stats, just a shame he joins where his bitchin stats are useless- if only he were a bit earlier.

Clarine-She's not incredibly strong, but she's a magic wall, and even if some physical people get to her, they have no chance at all of hitting her. Plus, she supports with another awesome unit: Rutger. Indispensable in every playthrough.
Miledy-She's a physical wall, and strong as hell, and she's even got decent resistance. Add to that that she flies and supports with Zeiss, who is also neat, and that makes her awesome.
Alan-My god, look at that strength growth. O.O He's insane. He's usually the strongest unit I get, but is outclassed in Skill by Miledy.
Lilina-Dur. 30 magic, plus an A support with Roy makes all bosses just cannon fodder.
Rutger/Fir-In my experience, both of them are more or less interchangeable, but a duo of Swordsmasters (who support each other) isn't a bad thing. Fir's better than her mom and uncle (she maxed Speed at Lvl 11 unpromoted), and Rutger is also strong.
Sue and Shin are nice too. I usually use Sue, just because I like her, and Speed usually outclasses Strength in my eyes. Ray is usually good, and he usually turns out solid. I used Gonzales for the first time last playthrough, and my God, he's a powerhouse. He's not indispensable, but he does have a LOT of strength, and probably the most HP of any character. Brenya's pretty good for a secret character too.

Roy? Meh. His personality is so-so (he's got the same annoying do-gooder personality as his father, just not as interesting), and he's an incredibly crappy unit pre-promotion. If I didn't have to use him I don't think I ever would.

hmm....how come they didn't make hectors daughter be more like a magic axe user... (you know, she's a "Mage" and an "axe knight" at the same time...but not as powerful... wouldn't that be understandable?

Instead they make her like a Magical Hector. Average Speed, good Magic (vs Strength), good Luck (vs HP), good Res (vs Def) if anyone sees what I'm trying to say :S

For the record, Lyrina/Lilina came before Hector did. If anything they made Hector an axe-toting version of Lyrina.

Still, they shouldn't have made Lillina such a cute weakling in the beginning... She should have learned allot of stances from her father....

So far: Echidna, Dorothy, and Wendy. The first two initially just for the novelty of being female characters with actual visible muscle definition in their official art; however, Dorothy earns further <3 by being the larger and stronger archer than her male counterpart, Wolt, defying FE's usual compulsion to make women smaller, wimpier, and faster than men (though Dorothy is also faster than Wolt ). Wendy earns some of the same <3 for having higher strength growth than her brother, if still having lower Con, but along with Echidna gets <3 for having a class with extremely limited female representation. Short of Wendy's crappy Move and awful base stats, and Echidna's crappy pre-promote growths (though Nightmare can justly fix the last two), all three perform solidly in combat, as well. (And yes, the parting comment on their combat performance was pretty much an afterthought )

Bah. Roy. Meh. NO. I usually have to jack him up with Codebreakers just to not train him. I really love arena abusing, and he's just a weight. he may have decent growths and an okay-base, he doesn't promote till ch. 21 or 21x, which absoultely pisses me off. He's a tool. simply made to capture a throne and move us all along to the next level. He's like a benchwarmer who goes in when everyone played. He does none of the actual work, and then does one thing at the last minute, when the game's pretty much all won.

Exactly. He's not even that great with the Sword of Seals in my experience, maybe I just get screwed or use him wrong or something. Zeiss can oneshot promoted mages with an Iron Lance, and it takes Roy two hits with the game's best weapon. Such a waste. Personality wise, I love Clarine, but Miledy has my favorite storyline, especially when she ends up killing Gale in chapter 21. I don't remember if anything special happens, but I like to do it anyway.

Dieck. A man whose fought his way through life and has the scars to prove it. Good from the start, and only gets better. He also makes damn good use of the Blades, unlike Raven and Harken 20 years ago.

Rutger. Best swordmaster ever. HM bonuses mean he's got a decent shot of capping HP, Str, Skl, and Spd on average. My latest one capped those and Def, making him unstoppable. Add that to supports with Fir, Dieck, and Clarine, and his critical just keeps shooting up, not to mention is uber avoid. I don't think I've ever had a swordmaster with more critical than Rutger.
