Routes - Which do you end up on, which do you prefer

There's no Karel level, actually. There's a Kenneth and a Jerme map, Karel and Harken can appear on both. I has something to do with how many doors you open before a certain turn, though I don't know the exact details.

That's only on Jerme's map, where opening two or fewer doors gets you Harken, and three or more gets Karel...I think.  On Kenneth's, it's how many promoted enemies you kill by a certain turn (8 sounds right for some reason).  Three or more again will net you Karel, while two or fewer spawns a Harken.

EDIT: Oh, bah.  Checked Serenes Forest - it's two or more promoted enemies or four or more doors to get Karel.  And it's turn 10.

Oh yeah, I forgot. There weren't that many doors in the Kenneth map anyway. Must be why it's easier for me to get Karel on that map, since I always rush the enemies, whereas my thieves tend to lag behind.

Its not just you. I think it a purposful design choice.

Harken is easier to get on the Jerme map and Karel on the Kenneth map. What I like is the fact you can get the other one if you work hard at it, Fire Emblem should have more decisions like this this, Johan and Johalvier and the Alan or Astoria village are the only ones that come to mind

Well, there's the route choice in FE6, with the two villages. And of course later on the Sacae and Ilia routes. Also, couldn't you pick which strategist you wanted to follow in FE5?

I end up on the higher lord level based map. I hate fighting Lloyd in the beginning, he's too easy, so I fight him later.  I have a question though...is the Kenneth/Jerme map based on weapon levels or Lv.1-20? I always have my physical units higher level, yet I go to Kenneth nearly every time...

I'm pretty sure it's the characters actual level. Which physical units do you get higher? The only ones that count are Raven, Bartre, Dorcas, and Guy.

I tend to use my lord rather a lot so there... while I also like Harken more then Karel so I aim for Harken most of the time.

Though its been a while since I've played I dont really remember right now...

I'd like to go to the Jerme route, but my lack of training Guy has almost always led me to the Kenneth Route.
As of FFO, I get Linus. I HATE FoW.
