Who do you wish was a stronger unit?

You know, whose personality do you like but wish was a better fighter so you could use them? The big one that comes to mind is Renault. He's not an incredibly crappy unit, but he's outclassed by Lucius and Serra, and yet he is, in my opinion, the most interesting character in the entire game. Vaida falls into much the same category. Not a bad unit persay, but not as good as Heath, but her support conversations are often very amusing. The one she has with Karla is probably one of the funnier ones in the whole game. Karel too.

I agree on Renault, it's a shame he's not as awesome as I'd like him to be. I also always thought it'd be fun if this game used strength and magic as seperate stats, and to let Renault have high strength. I dunno, just to hint at the fact that he was once a mercenary.

Karla. Unless you arena abuse Bartre and his low skill, you'll have some trouble getting to a sufficient level to recruit Karla. Considering the trouble, you'd wish she was a bit less fragile (what did she come with, 27 hp?) and a bit more strength. I mean, Guy and Karel do all right; it was decently good all-around in FE6 with two males (Rutger, Karel) and a female (Fil), so why not in FE7?

Well, on Renault, you must remember: when he was a mercenary, he had great physical strength. As he is still atoning for his sins, perhaps the holiness of his heart and thus his magic is less strong?

I third Renault without question.

I find Renault to be the most mysterious character in this Fire Emblem game, and I would definitely like to use him more if it weren't for his magical strength. I still use him of course, but he usually won't find a place as one of my final units because the rest of my group is generally better (stat wise). :/   Although that doesn't prevent me from putting him there for his personality and mysterious aura once in a while.

His Strength cap is fine, he destroys things even with 25.

At any rate they need to make Eliwood a little better.  He's decent as it is, but just too balanced in every stat; you're forced to use him which, for me, gives him a better case than Renault.
And Karel needs a boost to.  Lucius needs better luck, etc

Though for Renault he needs a magic boost and a level decrease...  seriously.

I always thought it would be neat if Renault joined as a level 1 bishop the very first time you meet him. Maybe that's just me.

Anyway, I'd like if Marcus was as good as Seth or Titania. It'd be nice if Wallace started out as a level 20 knight with bases that reflect the increase. That way I could use him without having to subject myself to the tedium that is Lundgren abuse.

Dorcas: When I first recruited Dorcas when I first played FE7, his personality and dedication had earned my respect (contrary to Bartre, who, at that time, I thought was a douche bag). Sadly, Bartre is better than Dorcas in terms of stats (or so I hear, as I haven't really used Dorcas).

Wallace: I liked his personality when I first recruited him in Lyn's story because he is somewhat stubborn, yet honest. Too bad you're forced to promote him early though (unless if you're playing hard mode), which makes him inferior to Oswin (by the way, has anyone gotten a level 20/20 Wallace? If so, is he good?)

Well for me id wish Matthew's Defense was better, hes one of my favorite characters in Fire Emblem, i know hes a thief so he doesnt get much Def, but i just wish

Renault, definitely. On one occasion I saved all the Power Rings for him so he can actually hurt something.

Eliwood either needs more Con, or Durandal to be more like it's FE6 counterpart. He slowed far too much by it.

And quickly, Isadora, Karla and Zephiel could all use strength increases. I hate chapter 26/8... Especially on my latest HHM playthough, where I'm struggling to get there quick enough. And then Ursula decides to move and absolutely owns him.

eh...I'd take Dorcas over Bartre any day, but maybe that's just me >_>

Anyway, I wish Marcus was god tier. Also some improvements to Isadora, Karla and Louise. Earlier joining time for Renault.

I could deal with a level decrease for Renault even. It makes sense characterwise for him to join when he does, so he could just be a level 1 bishop with those stats and I'd be okay with it. Then I'd use him like hell.

Would keep her a level 5 mage, though... She's only supposed to LOOK like a wimp, not actually be one.

Normally in these topics I comment on my favorite character, but Legault's just fine, so...

In this case, Renault and Pent. Renault is... honestly, almost trash. Most prepromotes can hold their own for a while, but Renault comes in too late and isn't good enough to survive the last chapter.

Pent is a good unit but not good enough for his apparently overwhelming power. That's always bugged me. His magic should be a lot higher, even if his other stats are garbage.

Pent's stats aren't that bad though, are they? At least, I've always thought they were quite good.

The bases are amazing and the growths are average, and either way he ends up good because of how amazing his bases are.

Also, A in Staves and A in Anima and decent Con...  gogoawesome

Same. His A support with Nino means she can rip through stuff even faster, and it's a shame he isn't awesome to go with it.

Really? Pent's awesome. He usually turns out better than Erk. My last game, Erk is level 14/20, and Pent's stats, without me giving him any experience at all, are all higher. The only mage, hell, magic user, he's never been better than is Nino, and that's after a significant amount of babying. He's nowhere near the same area as Renault.
