Sigh, with Radiant Dawn's crappy system, and now this, I hope this isn't a new direction they're planning to take strongly...

Even with the generic support quotes, Radiant Dawn has many of the best character developments in the whole series thanks to the several Base dialogues, a suprising amount of screen time for a lot of secondary characters, second-game new sequences and such.

What I'm bugged about FEDS is that these characters have had a fandom for almost 20 years and this was a fantastic chance to feed the fanbase with support conversations and more screen time for them. Many FE1-3 characters are very important and idolized within the FE fanbase (Oguma, Navarl, Sheeda) but we don't know much about them in comparison with, for example, Soren.

That's because Oguma, Navarre, and Sheeda already do have screentime, though (material for anime/manga).  As do some other characters.  A lot of recruitment conversations give a general idea of what a character is like, and then there are conversations on the map you can trigger.

And there is Book 2. Book 2 has a better story, because it has better characterization and background development than Book 1 (especially new roles given to some of FE1's characters).  If they remake Book 2, it'll be guaranteed that a lot of characters will have some more depth.

Ah, of course. Class Swap, Online Gameplay, and Online Shops were all part of the original.

No need for the sarcastic snideness, please.

Also note that extra gameplay modes like Online are much easier to add to a remake without compromising the plot than adding huge amounts of new plot segments and character interactions.

I'm sure that as much as people complained about the lack of support convos, they'd complain even more if something, say, Navarre said in a support convo contradicted some omake material I haven't even seen yet.

Since it's made in the same country as the omake, then it shouldn't be hard for the writers to read all the other official material that's out there, and pull it all together in one effort.

You'd be surprised how this doesn't necessarily turn out to be true at times.

Incompetence is not an excuse.

I'm certain Sonic Team is highly offended now. (Excuse the random jab at their expense.)

Incompetence is usually a design feature for their newest games, not an excuse.

So the characters won't be getting much personality.  Well, I guess I won't be bothered.  I play FE7 and 9 for the characters, and all the rest of them for the gameplay. As long as the battles are good I'll still play the game; now, what my review of the game is will be an entirely different story.
