As most of you know, FESS has, over time, had members from around the world; a look at Crystal's interactive map will show you at least some of that. Obviously, not all of them speak English as a first language. To that end, a long while back, Bus organized a list of people who had some proficiency in tongues other than English who were willing to help non-native speakers who had genuine problems communicating. That list hasn't been updated for a while, and I think it's past time that it is updated. French: - Superbus, AceNoctali, EliwoodGabriel, SwordsAreShiney Spanish: - ArmorDragon, Nightmare, Kuro Portuguese: - TheEnd Dutch: - Togieduo, CO Raptor, Hatake Asuka German: - Praetorian, General-Veok, Crystal Shards
This is the current list. I ask that all members on it who wish to remain on it post in this thread: those that don't, say so or don't post, either is fine. Other members who have proficiency in a language other than English and who don't mind being go-to guys in the event of member communication problems, feel free to post your seconday (or primary, as it may happen) language and a brief blurb on your proficiency with the language. Thanks guys.

I actually added myself to that list a couple weeks ago. Still want to be in German.

I suspected as much in your case, Crystal, and Mad Fredin, I assume that, from your post, Spanish is what you're volunteering for, yes?

I'm not the best; I'm still in the process of learning it, but in the event that I'm needed, I can help those who speak French.

I have proficiency with French for a bit over a decade, if that qualifies. What exactly do you mean by blurb, though, out of interest?

Basically your experience with it. I didn't read that part.
I am German-American; I was born in Germany and lived there off and on throughout my life. I took it for four years in high school and this is my third semester of it in the university setting.

Exactly what Crystal said. A brief note of your experience with the language you're volunteering for. No more than a sentence is necessary.

Ah, I was debating between your say and a demonstration. French was a mandatory subject since you enter school at 7 years old in Albania, whereas once my family relocated, I spent 2 years in Marseilles, France before uprooting to Canada and having to take it throughout my remaining 2 years of High School and first semester of University. EDIT: That is a sentence....I think.

oh, sorry I've taken French in school for 9 years now, and am pretty proficient with it. As far as the Spanish goes; I was born in Colombia, and Spanish is in fact my first language.

I wish to remain in the list . In Spanish, obviously. It's my first language Any help in this don't even doubt to tell me! Or if I need to do a specific function now (so as to really do something ) just mention it . I could translate the Manual to Spanish if it is needed

I'm going to be reworking the manual a bit, Nightmare, so if we end up going for something like that, it will probably wait for a bit. I appreciate the offer.

I also have some experience with Indonesian, having been born there, as well as currently living with people who still speak it on a regular basis. I also keep a couple of books and comics around in said language to keep my brainpan up to date. As for my proficiency: Don't ask me to translate the MoFP into Indonesian ( ), but I'm good in a pinch, and I've more fluent relatives who could translate for me at worst-case scenario.

I can help with portuguese. Since it's my first language. I should also warn that I speak the brazilian variation of portuguese. It isn't that much different from the portuguese spoken in Portugal or in Angola, but the brazilian one has influence of other languages.
