Also, all your knowledge over several forums scares me, you silly veterans.
Traitors.  I am a true FESSer; I've never even thought about signing up on another FE forum!
Crystal, you seem to have bad luck with Fire Emblem Forums in general. I think Drama and Catastrophe follows you.
Aw, man.  All I get is Chaos and Destruction.

Had you worked with Lucas, you too would remember him well. My dealings with him were what convinced Bus that I was ready to become a moderator. (Him and FEFF's forum roleplay; I have to be giving credit where it is due)
The irony of the statement being I HAVE worked with him once upon a time ago at FEFF regarding roleplay; strane that FESS is the only FE forum known to man without its own forum-wide RP, though I suppose none have volunteered for the prospect.

It has been proposed IIRC. It has also been shot down with a 6-gauge.

6-guage? More like a tactical nuke.

FESS just isn't an RP-based forum.

'sides, have you SEEN the activity on the RPG Board lately? If you brought the idea up when it was actually in full swing with more than one post a day (then again, that's like, what, several years ago?)

But even then it'd be like trying to hit a homerun with a flash light that's barely bigger than your hand.

Is there any chance that the Tiltyu issue will be answered? Now that it's been brought up, a considerable amount of members will have noticed it. Shit, I only just noticed it about a few weeks ago, while streaming old threads I find what I like to call the 'blood badge' on them, their title, and their sig.

Tiltyu revealed that she was, in fact, male.

I have to say that I am still very unsatisfied that this resulted in a ban, and if anything ever made me want to leave FESS that was it.  I'll probably get reprimanded for public dissent with the action, so I shan't say much more...

Don't be ridiculous.  You might be told to cool it if you were raising a retarded stink, particularly off-topic.

Why was Tiltyu banned?  Posing as a female.  Manipulating some members from that position.  That's the high and the low of it.

strane that FESS is the only FE forum known to man without its own forum-wide RP

Simply not true. The idea was suggested on SF as well, however, I don't think it's a good idea, and Vincent isn't convinced that there would be enough participation, so we haven't actually made one for SF. Therefore, there are only two well known boards that have no RPG ;D

Of course the entire notion of a "well-known board" is fairly subjective in its own right. Either way, to repond to FFForever, the activity in the RP board is not lacking in the sense of unwilling members but more of an immersion into personal life, as Crystal and MK once reported, I believe.

In my viewpoint, there are only 4 forums that are the most robust/well-know. They are FESS, FEP, SF, and FEFF. That is what I meant by most well known.

Someone is going to have to expound the reasoning for the latter to me; I would have thought FEFF's grace period had evaporated long ago.

I swear, I can never ever take a vacation...

Bullet points. Bear in mind, I'm out of patience at this point, so I might come across harsh. If I do, bring it up tomorrow when I've cooled off:

* Jet and Zephyr: Addressed. Jet was a douchebag for awhile, and I should have seen those signs coming from the way he treated a few mutual friends. Zeph... meh. He had some issues, but I feel  more pity towards him than anything.

* Tiltyu: Tiltyu pretended to be a female for almost five years, and in that time, became VERY close with a few of our members; remember, "she" was "dating" Zephyr when that incident happened. A lot of you - mostly members of other sites - have accepted him back with open arms, so to people like that, my stance sounds extreme, but let me bring up two members that prove why I take this stuff seriously:

1) SpikeEdge
2) Thunder Priestess

I've explained both of their stories ad nausium. If I have to do it again, let me know, but after those two, I DEMAND that my members at least not directly lie about their gender. There are too many dangerous people out there (especially SpikeEdge, who was supposed to be someone else, but that person instead was a front for the real person behind it, who was Ramza Lateralus; anyone that puts that asshole on a staff at this point deserves what they get) for me to fuck around with things like that. I had two female members petrified of their "trusted" webcam excursions ending up on a video site somewhere. Were they retarded? Yes. But if someone is going to pay for naivete, they're NOT going to do it on MY site.

If that offends friends of Tiltyu's, then I can't help you there, but I'm definitely not sorry about it. Maybe I'm a bit idealistic, but I refuse to let things like that happen on my watch. It's happened twice, and I was the one that got to the bottom of both of them, and they weren't based on my site. We haven't had a MAJOR incident like that yet. I wonder why!

* Gunlord - Gunlord stated that one person felt that I was the worst thing to happen to FESS. He told me later he was the one that said that. Then again, Gunlord was forever and irrevocably convinced that I was going to hack his account if he disagreed with me about anything, despite the fact that I kept him around BECAUSE of his dissenting opinions, and his similarity to people like TF.

* RPG Board - It's not our specialty, it'll never be our specialty, and I don't really want it to be our specialty. FEFF is nothing BUT an RPG at this point - and a poor one - and it's most of what FEP has going. Then again, those are very involved RPs. We give members the opportunity to start their own, and get experience in one; think of it as Baby's First RP, if you will. I feel that's our niche in that market, and though that angers the serious RPers, I feel it's actually worked for us.

* Dissent - Everyone keeps saying that they're going to get in trouble for dissent. That's bullshit. I've never disciplined anyone for well reasoned dissent or disagreement with me. Ever. Not once. I welcome feedback, and when I say that, I don't mean "I welcome feedback as long as you're all licking my balls". That means disagreement. Remember, a lot of our most successful policies here are things that I didn't agree with at first! I'm not a dictator.

Wait, I'm angered? Let me tell ya, Forum-Wide RPs are a BITCH to run and manage, much less start up, and sometimes I wonder if it is even worth it, both as a staff member and as a player (I'm in one as a regular member, the Development team of another still in beta, and part of a founding group of a third that's not yet off the ground.)

It ain't Baby First RPs. It IS RPs. Now I really wish that FESS2 was back online. There was what I had called the golden age of the RPG Board, when activity was, IMO, the best RPs and RPers since FESS2 (I was not around for FESS1, so I don't know about the RPs of then.)

I could go on and on at this point, but I'll link you here for my previous rant on the RPG Board for simplicity sake. The stuff on Map RPGs doesn't quite apply now, but the stuff on the Golden Age still does.

It's not the dissent or disagreement itself that I think has been looked down upon, but rather members publicly saying they disagreed with administrative decisions.  I concede that you have always been very encouraging of useful disagreement; through PMs.

But the thing is, though we might disagree with the members, and depending on how what they're saying is said, get curt with them, but we actively court dissenting opinions. It's how to properly run any organization; we're not omnipotent.

And you're right, we do prefer the PM system. But as long as it's respectful? Fire away in the boards.

Every forum has it's drama. I've actually twice seen what is mentioned earlier, somebody male claiming to be female. On both instances, the person had been banned.

It's really an annoyance, threads fall out one and a time, some attached to each other. Someone will leave because of a fight, and someone will leave because their friend left, someone will leave because they are sick of the drama. It goes on and on.

Of course, a strong forum is one that lives on despite these things, and in the end you can be proud to have been a part of something with such longevity and endurance. But maybe I'm just too old for the internet.

Tiltyu made me two avatars, and we posted in some of the same threads. Beyond that... nothing, really. I joined way after he did and never went into chat. I don't disagree with the reason for being banned, but I was wondering:
1. Did Zeph know?
2. If not, does he know now?
