In the opening sequence before the prologue, the describe Fado as "the peerless warrior king" and Hayden as the "venerable sage king".

Anybody have any idea why Fado is a general when unlocked and Hayden is a ranger? Perhaps one of the bigger flaws overlooked by developers.

(Although I don't remember the context) perhaps they're just referring to Hayden as being wise, not as being an actual "sage". I suppose the same logic could be used in the case of Fado, too.

"Warrior" and "sage" are both generic terms that don't necessarily have to do with a character's class. To say that Fado is a "warrior king" could just be a fancy way of saying he's a powerful fighter. Likewise, Hayden being a "sage king" could mean that he's a wise ruler. Besides, none of the other rulers' descriptions have anything to do with their class.

This.

Besides, how often in the game do you read of a character being describe as a "knight" or "soldier"? It doesn't always make them an Armor or a Soldier.
