As everyone else has pretty much said, it's a big nostalgia thing. I spent the majority of ages 14 to 16 on FESS. Although I made some poor decisions on the site (lol banned...) I still had a great time being a part of this community and taking part in the discussions. Discussing videogames is STILL one of my favorite things to do now that I'm 20.

I guess the only difference I see between me and some others who posted here is that I still actually play Fire Emblem, however it's usually when I'm sitting on the toilet waiting to do my business. (I actually just beat another Fire Affinity only playthrough on FE7 this morning )



So yeah, like everyone said, a yearly thing would be nice. Or at least something like that.

If it's just the problem of paying the servers can't we just create another FESS on some forum website like InvisionFree?

It's not a problem. If Bus has issues with keeping up on the bill, I'll take it over.

On that front, if we do intend to completely drop the FE aspect, it'll be even less intensive on the servers, since the main website and all of the media on it could easily be deleted.

If it had been a financial issue I would have imagined that've been among the first things 'Bus would've mentioned at the outset.

As to the matter of keeping activity up, perhaps you could reconsider affiliates as an option. Particularly if this becomes a non-FE centred forum, your options for picking and choosing affiliates you agree with become many more.

The only way activity can be drummed up for FESS now really is to call back its old members and those that remember.  FESS has been dead, and not many care, not even about Fire Emblem anymore.

I'm not sure what kind of calling could resurrect FESS and keep members coming.  Possibly a general forum to discuss whatever...

I doubt that would work... especially because we're seeing the results of that idea in motion right now. Let's face facts- We might have FE boards on here right now, but at this point we're basically open call for anyone to come in and fuck around. And we're getting little in that regard.

Really, I came up with some really long shot idea that was basically standing by our namesake and switching to pure strategy discussion (And let SF deal exclusively in hard data- It always annoyed me that it would have walkthroughs among the actual legitimate data). But that's also a pointless idea; we're so low in numbers that we'd just get the same 3 people discussing the same things, especially since a lot of our members aren't much into strategy to begin with (Myself included).

I say we let VASM grab whatever's left off the site and boards he wants (Not that there's much he's missed, but I don't know if he's archived everything or not), then we just nuke them all and leave us as fuck around place for old FESSers. Not that it's glorious in any way, but.

Well, even if we don't follow the old-dog-that-won't-die route, we should still let VASM grab what's on here, since there's probably a few things he's missed here and there (I can think of the code topics for one, but then, I don't know how he'd want to fit those into SF).

Take into account that most people here got to know about this because an ex-FESSer friend somehow told him/her. Then, as consequence, only the ones who have even a remote regular communication with an ex-FESSer that knows that FESS is back would be able to come here.

A lot of people helped out to spread word about this, but a lot of people isn't accounted for. Thing is, given the uncertainty of FESS' life (whether it'll close sooner or later) no one would go through the contact list to notify anyone who cared enough to post a way to contact him/her.
