So...

...Who's played it?

I have for a couple of years now after my aunt bought me a Sega Smash Pack CD for my birthday.  I was hooked on 1 ever since.  When I heard there was a second one, I went for the rage and was overall impressed.  I even went as far as doing videos on Youtube for my Shining Force II play through, though it only gets slowly updated.

I played Resurrection of the Dark Dragon (or whatever the one for GBA is called), but I never finished it. I also played Shining Force 2 for about 10-15 minutes.

Shining Force is one of the many games on my "To play" list.

Meh, GBA version was full of things that made it rather easy to play.  Even some of the harder difficulties were easy with Mawlock, though I hated how the difficulty progressed like that instead of it being able to be chosen like you could in SFII.

If you stayed away from Egress, Fairy Woods, and abusing repeat battles, SFII had a decent amount of balance toward it, character-wise.  I guess I don't mind Egress being a "tactical" advantage but I hate how you keep the EXP all the same.

I love the actual Shining Force games. SF I-III, and SF CD, they were all good.

But then you see shit like this and this, and combine these things with what happened with Shining Force Neo, and it makes your jaw drop as to how bad this series has gotten.

SF3 would require me fighting with my Saturn and then going and trying to find English translations of the second two-thirds of the game. Bluh.

But the first two are among my favorite games of all time.

I've played the first one (up to before the final map), but that's about it.
