So apparently several months ago 5 Indie games including World of Goo were put into a pay what you want bundle bundle for a limited time only.

They've done it again with 5 different games:
Braid
Cortex Command
Machinarium
Osmos
Revenge of the Titans

All DRM free and all multi-platform. Great for me as I own none of the games (yes, I managed to avoid Braid) but I can see some having reservations if they own Braid and Machinarium though I'll have to say Revenge of the Titans is a fun tower defence game (plus you can get a demo) and I liked the resource collection and tech tree elements to it, Osmos can get frustrating but it is nice and simple. I've not tried Cortex Command yet as its (still) essentially a prototype (the real oddball of the bundle if you ask me).

Braid alone is worth the money.

I spent $10 on this and am considering paying more again.

I can't really justify getting this one, personally.I own three of these games, and a fourth one isn't one I particularly care for (Machinarium).

If you're into Steam and having them on your steam account you can get a key for that (sadly the code adds all 5 games and in classic Steam bundle style the games you already own are sent to the void). Just follow the link in the confirmation e-mail you got.

Retrospective bump. A year on and Humble Bundle got investment from Sequoia Capital which has meant (since April) you're seeing a bundle once every 2 months. Usually developer specific ones.

Desura joined in the fun with their IndieRoyale twist on things: no setting how much each party gets (its 50% to Desura 12.5% to each developer), have to pay above a minimum which increases with time, paying a lot more than the minimum will knock that down a bit though. Unlike Humble Bundle there won't always be Mac or Linux support for games. These are typically once every 2 weeks.

Just now IndieGala launched with well...it looks very similar to Humble Bundle except you only get Steam keys. Given it is day 3 and its trying to limp itself to $50,000 (with an average of $1.45) not doing too well is the word that comes to mind. Then again it has tiny running costs due no need for cloud computing storage.

Plus, some other people (whose name I've already forgotten) have announced one coming up pretty shortly.

With all these cropping up I'm getting the impression of some consumer apathy but also people who would normally buy Indie games individually on Steam being cautious (e.g."This is 67% off but I'm not buying, could be in a bundle").

Unless practially every game is one I own, I always put at least $5 for the humble bundle. Makes me a bit cheap, I suppose, but I AM a college student.

I've already had my say on this:

Quote
My analysis of the relatively poor numbers, when compared to other bundles, doesn’t equate as much to this being a weak bundle (Binding of Issac is very good) as to there being too many of these things bunched together. Even I didn’t buy this one, and I typically buy them very quickly. It’s hard to keep up because they’ve been flying out one after another lately, and they’ve even inspired copycats. I was into Humble Bundles BEFORE they got popular!

I’d recommend that these slow down a bit. That’s hard to say with Christmas coming, but fewer bundles with more build-up, making them more “special,” will ensure that this is the first and last Humble Bundle that sells under $1m.

Too lazy to hit new thread. Bundle 4 is here:

http://www.humblebundle.com/

Off to a good start. ~100k sales ~$500k revenue. Solid all round content and the beat the average seems attractive too. Be interesting to see how it plays out (will it plateau too soon, in the past the bonus content has been the driver of pushing the average from like $2.34 to actual numbers but this is at $5 already and I can't see any reason the average would fall).

So games so far:
NightSky + sneak preview of NightSky HD (note: the game was originally designed for WiiWare only to I assume, constantly fall foul of Nintendo's lot check crap so it went to PC...keeping its 640*480 resolution...the HD update is badly needed)(other comment: Seriously? this was in another Indie Bundle like a month ago )
Super Meat Boy
BIT.TRIP Runner (note: Stage 1-11 is the crazy harder than the next 8 levels difficulty spike, though boss battles are tough too)
Jamestown
Shank

Beat the average:
Cave Story+
Gratuitous Space Battles

Already bought. I'll keep donating $5 dollars to this, because that's how much I'd pay for ONE of these games, and when it's name my price, I'll go for that.

We operate a large kitten farm in Texas, providing thousands of domestic felines for release into urban areas each month. We rely on the freshness of Tuscan Milk, as our kittens will not drink anything less. During the Italian milk drought of '03 we lost hundreds of puss, because the kittens refused to drink anything but Tuscan Whole. Thankfully Tuscan also produces their Fresh Powdered line, which is canned at the teats of elderly bovine. Thanks to the Italians, Texas streets will always have plenty of healthy long-haired puss for stroking. A+++ Will do business again!!!

And holy shit, my prediction is looking to be accurate. They're at $1.3 million already.

I actually have none of them (although I've played a bit of Cave Story before), so I got a hell of a deal out of it. Paid $15.
