Pending Website Downtime

This is a message that I just received from Dreamhost. I'll bold the important parts:

Due to continued space and power constraints in our primary data center,
we will be moving the “randy” cluster to one of our newer data centers.
This move will begin Friday, February 8, at 10PM PST, and is expected to
last up to 8 hours, until Saturday, February 9, 6AM PST. All web servers,
mail servers, file servers, and MySQL servers in the randy cluster will be
unreachable during this time.

The following web servers will be off line during this move:

Also, if you check the “Account Status” button on the upper right hand of
the webpanel ( https://panel.dreamhost.com ) you should see your cluster
under the section “Your Email Server:”.

We do apologize for this inconvenience. Rest assured we will do everything
possible to keep downtime to a minimum.

If you have any questions regarding the server move, please contact our
support team.

Really, REALLY short version: We're going to be SOL from 0100 to 0900 EST on Saturday morning. Likely longer; this is very involved.

For those of you that want to damn Dreamhost (Hi Ed!), I think of this as being akin to puking; once it's done, things will be a lot better. Ed constantly tells me whenever we have a site downtime, even a brief one, which is his job, but it's being worked into general greetings at this point, where I go "'sup" and he goes "what's up? Oh, wait, NOT YOUR SHITTY FUCKING WEBHOST YOU FAGGOT!!!". This will be ultimately beneficial to us.

This will be open to questions, but I don't see this affecting too many people. If something DOES come up and Steve's not available (chat will still be up), ask Ed. Asking me will be useless; Hinata's back at college, so I can see her again, and though I love the site and love you guys, I expect to be face-first in her breasts at that time on Saturday morning, and don't expect to come up for air until the proposed maintenance is well done.

Well it's inevitable, but probably not the best of things to happening at the moment. But worst case (well, not exactly worst case) is 24 hours of down time. 8 hours is reasonable and only covers one main time zone. For me, it's going to be down from 4pm; Saturday until the presumed 12am. Seems Europe shouldn't care much.

And come on 'Bus', we don't need your bloody imagery. Molestation should be done privately.

And back in my day, when hosts were down for a period of time, they'd beg for your forgiveness, and give me a permanent extra 5gb of bandwidth per month. Considering this was happening about once a month for the first year, (and has never happened since) it's alllllllll right.
