You get him for more chapters and he's pretty good.

Crossbows > him though. And he doesn't have wtfhax evade anymore.

Tibarn's better, but they're both strong units.

Well, technically speaking Naesala has more Avoid in FE10 than he does in FE9. However, the enemies in FE10 have higher stats, Skill included. So in raw stats Naesala has high Avoid (roughly 127 Avoid with his level 40 averages), but it's not as good relatively speaking.

From what I've seen, though, Naesala is better offensively in this game. He hits his Strength cap relatively quickly, starts with an S in Strikes (so he'll likely SS-rank it before the game ends), and at SS rank, his Great Beak has the same Might as Ragnell. He also has Tear, which activates based on Speed, so he'll be activating that almost half the time.

Then there's his battle music. Wheeling Corby > every other battle music in FE10.

He also has formshift, which makes him better than half the laguz in the game.

His S rank strike is what makes him worse than all the other Royals. :x  They all start at SS.

Kurthnaga has it worse.

When I said Royals, I meant Nailah, Naesala, Tibarn and Caineghis.  Kurth's only a Royal for 40% of the one chapter he's in, and isn't like the others in that he can't solo a whole map more or less right off the bat. <_<

rofl

Naesala's pretty damn uber in this game too...since he comes at a lower level than the other Royals, he can actually get experience for a little bit, and his growths are pretty decent.  If you did like me and got him to around ~35 by Endgame, you'll see he's pretty damn uber.  Give him Resolve if you're that worried about Bowguns and the ilk...once he gets hit one time, he won't be getting hit by anything ever again...if that's too risky for you, then just give him Nullify.  And his Battle Music is better than every battle theme you get other than maybe...Tibarn, imo

The only thing that messes him up, IMO, is that he's the only Royal that gets stuck on a team with no Leadership stars...it's kinda messed up that he can't get the +15-20 Avoid/Hit that Nailah and Tibarn get.  Once he gets to Endgame though, he's tearing up everything.

Not only is he useful for lowering numbers down trying to level up your weaker characters, but he is also a special case as he is also the only Bird Laguz in the game that gets the Tear ability under level 30! He is actually needed in the final five chapters especially to take out those damed long distant attackers Bolting,Blizzard, especially Sleep/Silence staff users

I'll also point out that he's terribly useful in the Desert chapter for hit and run tactics (as well as ferrying slow people around). I would've taken him for the final, but sadly, there were others that slightly edged him out statistically.
