Mars and Eris

I apologize if this is old news, as it probably is... But although most of the mythological references in the Fire Emblem series have been pointed out, there is one that I haven't seen elsewhere, so I'll point it out right here...

I believe that although Marth's sister's name is generally romanized Ellis or Alice, it could also be romanized Eris. Eris was the goddess of strife and the sister of Ares (Mars) in Greek (Roman) mythology. And Marth's name can also be romanized Mars...

I was wondering if there were other somewhat obscure references in the Fire Emblem series. I know that at serenesforest.net most of them are covered, but I noticed that Ellis wasn't on the list of names. And I think it's a good bet that Marth's sister Ellis is named after Mars' sister Eris...

I beg your pardon, Superbus. It's a poor excuse, but first I caught onto the similarities between Fire Emblem and other modern fantasy, then onto the similarities between it and ancient mythology, all the while forgetting that modern fantasy has so much in common with ancient mythology. (It doesn't help much that I quickly forgot about the first thread I started on the subject...)

In any case, you're right, and it should have all been in one thread. As I doubt this thread will be missed, feel free to lock it. Again, I am sorry about this.
