Jahn: "For what reason have you awakened a demon dragon?"
Zephiel: "Who are you?"
Jahn: "Dragon..."
(Zephiel smiles manically).

I would also agree demon is a good choice. But was Idouns name the same as the purple dragons (demon), or the same as Medeus' (dark)?

About Medues being an Earth dragon, earth is largely associated with the dead in some forms of mythology and religion.  Even other fantasy games use demonic monsters or characters in an earth-like setting, such as caverns or barren cliffs.  Think of the Dark Dragons as beings from the Earth Dragon

Great, if this really is the localized title, I'm going to be seeing Golbez and Rydia for quite some time ._.  now weres mah reles date >[[

Didn't I say she had the same class? :S

Mediuth's class was Ankokuryuu (as in the title of this game), which is literally Dark Dragon.

I would be interested that it is the only Fire Emblem to get an English title (well fair enough the others were already out in English except Gaiden) but the US Dojo has managed to muck up translations before*. Plus as we've seen before Super Samsh Bros translations can be ignored (Roys trophy anyone?).

*-Remember when they got the Pokémon evolution dialogue wrong. You know Look. Samus is evolving despite the Pokémon games being What? Samus is evolving.

For the record the UK Dojo just lists the Japanese name for the game.

Yeah, I don't know why I asked that then, probably forgot.

I always thought there were 2 main tribes, the heaven/divine/holy/god and the earth. Dark dragons appeared to be either a special form or leaders within the earth tribe, since it's stated the whole earth tribe is indeed evil.

The only dark dragons I know of in the FE1/2/3/4/5 mythology are Medeus and Loputousu.

I always catch onto these discussions late, don't I?

My usual random technical stuff:
- Idenn's [maryuu] class was romanized into 'Magic Dragon' in the internal data for FE6.
- 'Demon Dragon' is the 'official' translation in the US, though the 'Mamukoot' > 'Manakete' (though more trivial) and 'Wyvern Rider' > 'Dracoknight' (though less trivial) issues could say otherwise as to keeping it.
- In the case that IS is actually consistent (for once) in its translations, FE1's subtitle's translation would be "Dark Dragon and Falchion Sword" based on the poorly translated "At first. There are Dark Dragon, Falcion Sword and Fireemblem", [hajime ni... ... ankoku ryuu to hikari no tsurugi, soshite... ..., faia-emuburemu ga atta].

Personally, I have a very, very hard time believing that this'll be the final title (though a slightly less hard time believing that this is the title that'll be used in SSBB). And, as Starwolf as mentioned, both the Dojo and SSBM have some iffy translations.

I think you're over analyzing things just a little bit. FE7's subtitle is usually translated as "Blazing Sword" in reference to the Durandal. As we all know, the Durandal is at least twice as tall as Eliwood. Does that mean that subtitle that most of us use is "incorrect"?
That'd be exaggeration in the battle sprite. Durandal is significantly smaller in the artwork, in-game CGs, and Hasha. Same reason why Nergal and Zefhyr are twice as tall as anyone who isn't a General. (And since when did being huge disqualify a weapon to be a sword?) (And, while I'm still at it, the official JP subtitle was 'Sword of Flame'.)

I geuss this is worth mentioning here.

According the English Brawl trophy descriptions found on the Japanese disc Marths homeland is Altea. Here is the trophy text so you can gander at it:
Before you do anything remember the Roy tophy in Melee and how its location text doesn't match up with FE7. Quite a few of the translations seen in the trophies don't match up with past official translations but that is more for the Brawl topic than here.
